Well the Spireites are one step closer now Gerry - just watched the play-off eliminator at the Shay, and a thoroughly well-deserved 2-1 victory for Chesterfield.
I share all of those sentiments Noah, particular about the scummy scabs. However, I can’t bring myself to hope for their success, particularly as me and my Spireite mates will probably plan a weekend bender if we play at Field Mill next season.
Without any metric to define success or failure (other than relegation obviously), I think it would have been very harsh for Wayne, Joe and Dave to take us from the brink of relegation to mid-table safety in less than half a season and not get the permanent jobs.
There were some encouraging signs shining through on occasion, so more of that to dispel nagging concerns from a few less than impressive performances will most welcome next season.
Whilst I agree with you it's very unlikely, worth bearing in mind those are U23 appearances. I don't think he's played at all in the Premiership itself? Still impressive though, and they clearly think enough of Todd to keep him on for another year.
…well, of course they are, they’ve just been promoted as champions. But definitely miffed that behind the scenes their manager Rob Edwards was already in negotiations with Watford. The official statement reads:
“FGR confirms the departure of Head Coach Rob Edwards and Assistant Head Coach Kyle Richie. Rob & Richie were a key part of the team that gained promotion to League One this season. We’re disappointed that our support, loyalty and honesty towards Rob has been repaid in this way - with negotiations taking place behind our backs. We had no contact from Watford, from whom we might expect less [ed. think they mean more, or do they?] but in any event this kind of behaviour gives football a bad name. We thank Rob for all his work at FGR - forgive him the manner of his departure and wish him well.”
