It looked like the boy gave Tymon a push in the back and then flopped over like a dying fly and the ref bought it
It might not have been pretty but you can only play what’s in front of you and they didn’t make it pretty or easy
To win a game like that is a big statement, we have lost games like that in the past and it shows the work Vitor and the squad put in to prepare and play awkward opponents |

Ronald is pretty good defensively and not afraid to tackle or get stuck in, and his commitment isn’t in question |

And look at the amount of money promoted teams fork out on players and wages when they go up it puts serious pressure on them if they come straight back down , look at Luton |

Last season they were head and shoulders the best team in the championship,Hull were promoted via playoffs , look at the league positions now ,how many seasons have we seen championship champions struggle in the prem ,while playoff Wnners finish higher,it’s uncanny |

We do leave gaps out wide but are not the only team to do it ,it seems to be the modern way of playing,it’s just frustrating to see
But if you play more attacking football you’ll score more goals than the opposition and that’s how you win games so I suppose that’s Matos’ thinking
With Lissah and Welsh in the middle we seem to cover those wide breaks better as they’re more mobile and quicker |

Also it’s great to have the option of playing them together later in some games
We’re spoiled for choice and quality with this squad
The squad is filled with players capable of scoring which is outstanding
I can’t wait for Widell to get his first goal though , if ever a player deserves one it’s him |

Your last sentence sums Key and Tymon up perfectly , neither defend very well,don’t mark their opponents tight enough and don’t stop crosses but both are good going forward
They are good wingbacks but we play a system that needs fullbacks , who have to defend and the space and time we give opposition widemen will cost us as the season progresses ,unless we get them to do the defensive work properly |

A good manager picks his best team for performance ,if he wants a successful season ,not stubbornly picking his favourite players regardless .We’ve seen too much of that in the past with Cullen
Lissah and Welsh are by far our best CB pairing,quick and good with the ball
I know FB is a weak area area for us defensively but if we get Key and Tymon closer to their wingers ,it will stop the ball being played to them in the first place which would be a big plus
We have to be sharper today and Please ,stop trying to walk the ball in and have more shots ,that’s how you win games |

Coventry’s squad last season didn’t look any better than ours on paper , Lampard just found a way of playing that suited his squad and the division
Our squad this season is probably our strongest for a long while
If Matos can find a way to get the best out of it ,then we’re looking good |

Idah and Zan are different types of players,both will be important to us this season

We see teams exploiting the space allowed them out wide every game , we just need to mark the wide men tighter , if we stop them having the ball then they can’t cross it can they
If our fullbacks push forward then a midfielder has to drop back to cover the space
We’ve got a great squad ,Matos just needs to tweak his tactics to make us tighter ,defensively out wide
When we do move the ball forward at pace We look so good |

Liam’s report is very accurate ,Southampton did target our defensive flanks ,as most teams try to do ,because our fullbacks move infield too much,allowing the space out wide for the wingers to get the ball,we see it every game ,teams play the ball from side to side then pop the ball out wide to an unmarked player ,who invariably gets past the fullback and gets balls into the box ,this wouldn’t happen if we marked tighter ,its basic defending not rocket science
Lissah and Welsh are undoubtedly our best centre back pairing ,quick ,mobile and always trying to move the ball forward,we look a better team with them |

Our slow play and wide defending was exposed again and we showed how much we struggled in front of goal
We seem to struggle against Well organised teams ,so we need to change our strategy to find a way to stifle them and also to open them up and create chances
We are not a bad team but we are not in the top echelon either …yet
Yes we've got things to work on but we’ve got the best squad we’ve had for a long time and will get better |

Burnley and Lincoln will not be walkovers and they will be looking at how easily we conceded tonight
We’ve signed midfielders but our Achilles heel is our fullbacks who aren’t the best defensively ,the only answer for now is to get them closer to the opposition widemen ,not letting them have the ball unopposed and coming at us and get our wingers to cover them more
Lissah and Welsh are our best CB pairing ,both are more mobile in defence and going forward and we need to play them together from now on
And we need to get shots away quickly instead of trying to thread balls through tiny gaps
We need to learn from this ,and from the Wrexham and Sheffield Utd games because they both stifled us far too easily
Probably a wake up call for people tipping us for top 8 |
