I've not had any ill feeling towards a club who's taken a player or a manager from my club since I was about 15 years old tbh. There hasn't been any real comments on here hoping we fail to be fair and I wasn't expecting there to be unless it was from a few younger ones. Good luck for the rest of the season anyways, who knows, this could be a blessing in disguise on your route back to the epl.

Excluding gerrard, who if it wasn't for who he is wouldn't have got the villa job, you have to go back to 1998 to get a manager who's went from us in the spl to an epl side. With them across the city excluding Rodgers, who I'd class is to good for the spl anyway you have to go back to 2006 when Martin O'Neil left. It's not really a stepping stone to get an epl job. I don't think epl boards will rank winning the spl with one of the old firm who has 50 times the budget of who we are competing against as some sort of achievement. If I'm being unbiased I'd probably agree with them, if I'm racing lewis hamilton in a 1 mile straight line but I have a ferrari and Lewis Hamilton is in a Ford fiesta then I'm winning that race, would it be seen as some sort of achievement though ?. I don't think it would. It would look better on his cv getting promoted with yourselfs and arguably a bigger achievement. This won't end well for beale, at the moment the other lot are a good bit infront of us. We need a full rebuild, if he gets it right and wins the league next season it can be argued well so he should given the difference in budgets. He gets this wrong though and it's not going to look good that he's struggled against teams who have 10% of the budget he had to work with. What I'm saying really it's a loose, loose scenario. For all ibrox can be a great stadium for atmosphere when things are going well, it can be toxic when it's not going well. Stray passes get moaned at and the fans get on the players backs.

Going by speaking to people and looking at our forums the vast majority didn't think he should get the job, even had some nutters abusing him on twitter. So he's not going to get the time that say a more popular choice would get given amongst the support. For all the hype around him it seems forgotten that he was part of the set up at villa that wasn't good enough.

I actually agree with you, club size wise there's not many bigger in the uk. But if he has ambitions to go to the top then this is a backwards step. Rangers are a bigger club than wolves, but looking at it as a neutral you would have to be daft to argue that choosing rangers over wolves is the better career option. It made no sense for him to stay with yourselfs when an epl club wanted to give him an opportunity as its a step up in the right direction. If he done well with wolves then it would get noticed and he'd get looked at for better jobs winning the league with rangers isn't going to put him in the frame for a job in the epl as its not that big of an achievement. Like I said, him getting qpr promoted could be argued that its more of an achievement on his cv to get a better job than winning in scotland.I thought maybe something had happened in the last month between him and the board maybe.

I'm not one of those fans who are deluded and think that we are a bigger draw for a manager or player than clubs in the epl because we are a bigger club. 10 out of 10 times anyone with any sense is choosing the team in the epl before going to Scotland.

It's not popular because it's another gamble, he's had around 20 games as a manager. He's not a name like a gerrard for instance who although lacked experience he could make up for some of it as it could open up the possibility for players coning just because it's him. He was arguably one of the best midfielders in the world in his time. That alone makes people want to work with him.

I've no problem with managers, or players for that matter leaving when a better option comes up. If any manager or player turns down an epl club while there in scotland shows a lack of ambition if I'm being honest. If you have confidence in your ability then although a lower epl side might not be as big a club as rangers. If you perform in thr epl for one of the lower clubs then you will get picked up by another side no problem as you have shown you can perform in the league. The difference in standard between the epl and the spl is night and day. I'd even argue if the players young enough then even going to the championship and performing would get more clubs interested from thr epl than playing in the spl. The standard of the championship isn't great but its still alot better than 10 out 12 sides in the spl.

From a neutrals point of view this just seems a strange move for career progression. I know it's not announced yet but trust me it's getting announced in the next couple of days. The deals been done.

I did try to reply to the other thread but I couldn't see how to do it so feel free admin to drop it in there. Just to ask really if somethings changed since last month with the board and beale, beale said that he has ambitions of going to the highest level which there's nothing wrong with and that's the attitude he should have. When he knocked back the wolves job I said at the time it shows a lack of ambition as the wolves job would be progress for where he wants to end up.

The reason I'm asking if somethings changed between the board and him is because it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to come to us in the spl after knocking back an epl club. Even staying with yourselfs and getting into the play offs would be seen as a bigger achievement on his cv than winning the league with us where he has a budget around 15 times more than every club bar 1. We will still attract managers etc to a decent level as we pay decent enough money. He could win the next 5 leagues in a row with us and it wouldn't guarantee him an epl job as its not really that big an achievement when only competing against 1 team. If we are being honest I don't think anyone would try and argue qpr are a bigger club than what we are. But there's a very genuine argument that doing well at qpr gives him a better chance of getting himself up that ladder than doing well with us. This seems like a backward step.

His appointment isn't very popular with the vast majority of rangers fans up here at all .
