Another newbie for Derby at home - Referee Monday, 12th Oct 2026 09:43 by Clive Whittingham It’s another new referee for the R’s on Wednesday as Matt Corlett takes charge of their home game against struggling Derby. Referee >>> Matt Corlett (Bootle), fifth Championship game of his career. Assistants >>> Bhupinder Singh Gill (London) and Sam Lewis (Buckinghamshire) Fourth Official >>> Lewis Smith (Wigan) HistoryFirst career QPR appointment. StatsInitially a Football League assistant, Corlett elected to focus on refereeing from 2016 and was promoted to the league list for the 2023/24 season, this will only be Corlett’s fifth career game at this level, with the other four all coming last season. Derby featured in one of those – a 2-1 home loss to Wrexham at the beginning of January. Corlett was certainly busy last season. He had 36 appointments, concluding with Grimsby’s home loss to Salford in the League Two play-offs, booking 154 (4.27) and sending off six across those fixtures. Five fixtures so far this season – three in League Two and two in League One. He’s shown 19 yellows (3.8) and no reds across those games, and was in charge of Reading’s big 5-1 win at MK Dons at the weekend.
