Derby want Hoilett and Phillips on loan 18:14 - Jan 26 with 6143 viewsbosh67

Steve M has worked with both of them and possibly a good move because both players are comfortable in the Championship.

Never knowingly right.
Poll: How long before new signings become quivering wrecks of the players they were?

Always find it weird that people say Phillips isn't a premier league player. Looked perfectly adequate at this level for Blackpool.

A bad run of injuries and low confidence and everyone's prepared to write off his entire career, shunt him off so we can buy more players. Aren't these the kinds of decisions we criticise the QPR hierarchy for usually?

Rediculas. Hhoilet looked good on right at home. Phillips has nt had a chance. We need wingers. Losing confidence in decisions We need that age group too

On more than one occasion last season (I can think of Blackpool away and Doncaster at home off the top of my head), Phillips performed like a real old fashioned winger, got to the byline and lifted a beautiful cross onto Charlie's head. It is frightening to think how poorly the "coaching" staff (term used liberally) have used him since.
Hoillett on the other hand I think is not salvageable. If you think back to his two most significant contributions last season - the semi penalty win (when I was convinced he would have lost it but for the foul) and the cross straight to Keogh in the final and there is not much there.
We really have become a graveyard for talent though....

Same with Mutch as well just shows how short sighted the club and some fans are 2/3 bad games and the player is discarded and deemed not good enough

I wouldn't sell any players in this window bar the usual suspects like SWP etc

im convinced we've become the' Miss Jones' of the premiership.. with any randy love rat fleecing our post office account , denholm elliot style , at will in return for a quick fumble and a Vesta chow mein.

this buy -high- sell- or -loan-for- fuc'k- all- policy , simply has to stop.

criminal.

Find it quite funny that we are constantly linked to "mercurial talents" now, your Osvaldos and Berbatovs, in addition to the four or five #10s we already have. Have you noticed Redknapp tends to say "they'll get you" a lot, like oh talent like that they'll win you games, they'll get you ten goals etc. Rather than working together with players as a unit (or "football club" as I believe its known) it's just a series of Faustian pacts, bartering with sociopaths hoping they can pull something out of their talented backsides one or twice a game to "get you" points. And if they don't "get you" anything well they've broken their part in the bargain haven't they the toerags, so let's have a sulk and keep them in the doghouse until you go round the rest of your bloated squad and it's their turn for a go again.

Would not be sad to see the back of either but as has been asked, who do we play wide left and right?

Fer
Vargas
SWP
Barton
Krancjar
Zarate

Quiz question: What links all of the above?

If only we had a coach to tell them to get to the byline and put a cross on Charlies head. All they need is coaching!

It Is What It Is !!

would let Hoilett go and give Phillips 3-4 matches on the right wing with some coaching. Do'h.

The link: Did they all enter this years How Much Mr Kipling Cake Can you eat in 5 Minutes?
The winner being - Krancjar who polished off 3 Fancy Fondants, 2 Battenburgs, 4 Country Slices, 6 maccaroons and a staggering 3,412 angel cakes?

Poll: Remy - can he play in the playoffs - who's opening post is the best?

Yep toilet was piss poor last season and is not as good as Campbell Ryce who is a league 1 player,so i don't know where people get this idea of him being a decent Championship player.
Its probably the same people who were always banging on about replacing Clint with Anton fcukin Ferdinand.
Phillips on the other hand has end product but just seems to struggle with the rest of his game,he'd be a very good player someone like Pullis got hold of him.
He's still young enough but painfully low on confidence.
There's a very good player in there waiting to come out but we don't have coaching ability to improve him.
Just look at our squad, all the younger players are getting worse whilst the players who already have the know how and don't need coaching are keeping us in the mix.
What does that tell you?

Didn't someone suggest using Phillips as a wide target man?

We could try that. That lad could be a seriously good player. He's quick, got a good cross on him, good header of the ball (for a winger) and is surprisingly agile for such a big bloke.

It worked in FM 2014 anyway. I think he has like 50 caps for Scotland in my save now

Give him a run in the team and actual instructions. I've heard worse ideas (see also: lump it up to Bobby till injured)

The saddest part about this is that they both came to the club with talent and potential but at age 23/24 have gone backwards rather than kicked on - that reflects incredibly poorly on the coaching, or lack of it, they have received at our club. They are both decent players and in the right environment could be real weapons.

We have become experts at "un-developing talent" in the last 10 years.

Must be some sort of virus that every new signing picks up as soon as they cross South Africa Road.

Good managers get the best out of player, that's why Hoilett played well for QPR when SM was pulling the strings and IMO he will get the best out of him again, on the other hand Harry could not get the best out of Messi.

Both capable players being coached and managed badly. Get rid and bring in more of the same is not the answer. Agree they have to take responsibility also but we have made them worse off than when they joined and for a club our size that's criminal.
