They have placed their trust in the SNP to represent them in Westminster as well as Holyrood. "These 56 SNP MPs will represent the interests of all in Scotland." She called the SNP's victory in Scotland "unprecedented" in UK politics and added: "People voted for an SNP manifesto that had ending austerity as its number one priority. That is the priority these men and women will now take to the very heart of the Westminster agenda. "It cannot and will not be business as usual when it comes to Westminster's dealing with Scotland. "My message today to Westminster is this - Scotland's voice will be heard in Westminster now more loudly than it has ever been before." Wales - soon to be a marginalised third world country. Why oh why are the Welsh so slow to wake up to what is going on.

Is he the dog? From an incredibly aristocratic family he had an incredible life but much of it exposed his imperialist beliefs. Churchill was so popular after the war he was kicked out by a landslide Labour majority. Not so popular either for deploying troops to attack miners in South Wales before WW1. Did the job among with millions of others and showed a resolute character ... but!!

A massive kick up the arse for Wales and its people is needed. on 15:46 - May 9 by C_jack | The problem is you can't make decisions with lifelong consequences like that at 14. "That boy likes cars, lets throw him into an motor repair apprenticeship". It's pigeon holing to a very dangerous degree What happens 10, or even 20 years later if they decide that they want a change in direction? They'll most certainly have to go to night school to get a Math and English GSCE, something they should have had routinely as a 16 year old. Although I agree post 16 there should be far more options in regards to trade and business apprenticeships Every 16 year old should have basic Maths, English and Science GSCE's [Post edited 9 May 2015 15:47]

Kids choose which GCSE's they want to take at 14. There's not much difference. Maths and English should be mandatory for all 16 year olds. I'd also create a new "life skills" subject for all of them to gain knowledge that they'll need in life. After that then if they're clearly not academically inclined (and teachers will know full well which ones they are) then why not let them gain practical skills instead of forcing them to take classes that they have no interest in and will only disrupt those who do? Nothing stopping them going back and resitting exams later in life if they decide to change direction. I know plenty of people who have.

There is no such thing as a tax on bedrooms. The problem is tax evasion. Pretending to be a second hand car salesman or charging a subsidiary company a loyalty fee is not avoiding tax it's distorting reality. My problem is MP's should not use colloquial terms but deal in facts when they talk about problems. No joke involved there

Joking apart Wales could be a rich self sufficient independent country, we have the basic raw materials, good location, people and skills. |
Yes that's very good and sounds great but I'm just curious about the funding of an independent Wales. How would we pay for our NHS ,schools, education, benefits ,roads and infrastructure etc. This would cost in the region of a billion pounds a year minimum. How can we raise that kind of money through taxes nobody wants to pay.? There does nt seem to be anyone in Plaid who can answer these basic kind of questions...

That's exactly what Labour have done in Wales. Centralised all the wealth. Made widespread cuts (contrary to what most people believe, education/health etc are devolved). They can't afford to keep hospitals open, yet they never seem to be short of money to build another narcissitic vanity project in Cardiff, whether its taking our cricket team, spending billions on St Davids/Cardiff Bay/new BBC HQ. People in Wales need to wake up but they need to realise the biggest exploitation is done by our own government, but people keep voting them in because Thatcher closed the mines 30 odd years ago. It's absurd. We have had a devolved government for over 15 years. It's time to stop pointing the finger at Westminster and England. The problems lie at home with Welsh Labour

It was a millennium poll for the Sunday Times, people like the Presidents of America and Russia, scientists, artists and scholars were asked and Glyndwr came out top 10, Churchill didn't make the top 10, he might have made top 20, I remember making a lot of political gain so to speak at the time, I think Glyndwr came 7th. In a Welsh one around the same time I think it was Glyndwr #1, Nye Bevan #2 and long time Plaid leader Gwynfor Evans #3, beating the likes of Lloyd George and Llewellyn the Great.

Wealth is created, taxes are paid, the revenue of which is then spent on the NHS,schools, education, benefits ,roads and infrastructure etc. Wealth created in Wales case could be through selling our energy, water and electricity as well as tourism, farming, mining and even services, no reason why Wales could not go down the tax haven, commercial services or banking centre route. Everybody has to pay taxes just like in all countries otherwise its the gulag just like elsewhere. Spending of taxes depends on the Government, right wing equals small state, more money in individuals pockets but little safety net, left wing equals big state, less money in individuals pockets but a big safety net. I would hope that Wales would follow the Nordic model of a free market economy but with a large welfare state supported by high taxes which the population are happy to pay, they are top the league in all sorts of measures, unlike the uber right wing UK.

We can't even say with any certainty what sort of guy Richard III was and he was the most famous person of his time.

Who's going to buy welsh electricity ? England ? I doubt it.....as they are going to build at least 8 new nuclear power stations during the next 15 yrs and will have all the electricity they need. So who going to buy it ???????? Also do you know how many major power stations there are in Wales. ? [Post edited 10 May 2015 17:52]

Its been Labour run since day one, either on their own or as the lead party in a coalition, often its been Labour in Westminster and Labour in Cardiff Bay at the same time. The poorest areas in Wales are Labour, they have Labour MP's, AM's and councils, there has been a list going around the net showing the 10 poorest areas in Wales and they are all Labour run top to bottom [mp's, am's and councillors], that's Tories for you, they don't care about the less well off whether they are red or blue Tories.

This is actually a good point for a change. Wales is shutting it's last remaining nuclear plant down whilst the rest of the world is seeing sense and investing in it. Wind farms and tidal lagoons are not the answer people.
