To be honest Dwight if someone else had started this thread I doubt Lisa would have commented on it.
She always follows me around like this and if I’m truthful I think she fancies me.

So even if Lisa's assumption is right, Clement used the phrase 'mans performance' to describe a performance where someone exhibited great maturity. I don't see how this changes anything from Darren's opening post, questioning whether it was an appropriate comment on Diversity Day.

We no longer live in days of common sense and (I'm being non gender specific, not to offend) the people in the above article (I prefer not to label by sex, it might offend) might very well have been offended by PC's comment yesterday.

Please get me into a Tardis (with a male Doctor who) to help me travel back in time to Planet Earth and the reality of bygone years. And I mean decades forward from dark days of the 1970's....We moved on years after that. I'm seriously concerned now, because there are people now making up things to be offended about.

BTW I want my Wuthering Heights to have a Cathy in it as opposed to a (won't name sex, it might offend) geezer called Clive! Call me sensible, but from here on in every decent person, can fall victim to hateful-PC thought crime and deemed a guilty bigot by a person’s vivid imagination.

They haven't objected to the use of the word 'manfully'. They've objected because the letter implied that the father wasn't an equal parent or equally concerned about the health of his child. Which is pretty old fashioned and dismissive.

It's funny that if you disagree but can't think of an argument you and many others do the whole 'women always think they're right' or 'women pretending that they know what I'm thinking' bit. Never see it levelled at the men who say exactly the same thing as I do. It doesn't bother me, before anyone starts, but it's noticeable.

As it happens, I'm probably often wrong. But in discussing gender issues with many on this board, I think I'll take my chances.

Lisa, you seem a decent, kind and genuine person. If I'd worked in an office it would have been a pleasure to share it with you.

Guess what? I'm a lot like you, I prefer to treat people like I would want to be treated myself, I detest (and cringe at) disrespect, rudeness, bullying and gratuitous beasting. If I came accross a transexual or gay person I would treat with respect and utmost decency. I even cringe when our supporters "Englands full of sh#t" song etc

But? I think I may differ from you in one respect i.e. I think things are starting to go too far. Decent sorts are now being wronfully accused, labelled and smeared for stuff that always tended to be seen as harmless even by the very people that are meant to be the subject matter of the offence.

I think there are times when things go to far as well.

Certainly over the use of some language when it's obvious that the person has said something that was genuinely well intended.

And I rarely take issue with the 'small stuff'. I don't understand women who are bothered by men calling them love, as an example. Or holding a door open, or offering a seat (chance would be a fine thing on the tube these days as it happens). I also can't see any issue with people saying 'Chairman' or 'ombudsman' or anything like that - it's just what it is.

But sometimes small stuff is used to belittle wider issues. You see it frequently on this board. Someone will use an extreme example of people just being ridiculous as a way of making the whole problem seem trivial and overblown. They demean those who have faced genuine upset by effectively tarring them with the 'nonsense' brush. That's all. For me, political correctness just means good manners. As you say. Treating everyone with respect and not mocking them for the ways in which they're different.

I don't imagine there will be many if anyone that will choose to use Mx on their Swans season ticket. But honestly, if it just makes one person feel a bit better and makes them feel more welcome, given it doesn't adversely affect anyone at all, I think that's great.

That's all. I don't think for one second by the way I'm 'better' or more 'virtuous' because of the way I feel. I just find the thought of someone who to be frank, must find life more difficult anyway, being mocked, upsetting.

You’d come out of it perceiving it as a few hours of small talk and general chit-chat without any cups of tea.

I wonder if anybody who really wants to see Clement go will try and kick up a fuss about this? The Independent might pick it up as I am sure whatever sensationalist headline they use would spread like wildfire amongst the usual lefty sheep on social media.

I still want to see him go, though a few more performances like yesterday and I’d happily change my mind.

I’d think it more logical to focus on the inept performances we’ve been churning out since August than a completely harmless post match comment if I wanted to justify getting him out.
