Excellent gallows humour at 3-0 - we've got the ball, we've lost the ball, we'll get it back etc etc.

Couple of points on the game, which Brentford fully deserved to win.

- i know i'm in minority, but despite a couple of quality performances at the beginning of the season, i'm still very unsure about Manning, he was getting overrun thought down that side in the first half and was often caught out of position.

- lummers must be benched for while now, it's embarrassing and not helping him at all, he's clearly got the yips now and it doesn't help the defence in front of him

- off day for many players - Eze was fairly anonymous, Cameron and Hall had poor games. Only Chair looked dangerous whenever he got the ball and Bright too to a lesser extent.

- The Brentford front three are utter quality.

Just back from China and sat down to watch the recording on Sky+ without knowing the score. Was looking forward to it.

Once it got to 2-0 thanks to yet another unnecessary Lumley pass to their attacking midfielder fast forwarded the rest at 30%. That’s finally one too many from him for me, fed up of seeing it. He’s not good enough. We just can’t keep throwing goals into the net and hope to get anywhere.

Also we were incredibly lucky that Cameron wasn’t sent off and they got a penalty after five mins. Looked absolutely blatant to me.

Oh well

The problem with Ryan in Central Midfield is he only has a left foot and for me Amos is currently playing well in the same role Manning would have there.

He was at fault for the goal from the free kick having lost his man. I can accept being caught out of position from time to time in open play given the way we play, but his defending for that set piece was bordering on criminal.

Personally I think someone paying us 3 to 5 million now would resolve a problem MW has now. Overall I think Wallace would give us a better balance to the defence, but Manning is a saleable asset now, and MW has to play him if we're realise anything from him, but there's too many players in front of him to play left midfield or central midfield at the moment.

Very interesting post swisscottage and its plain to see Manning has taken a step backwards these last few games .I believe it started soon after Mick McCarthy called him up to ROI for a friendly then cut him before the game maybe it shook his confidence a bit .
Or maybe when the rumors of a bigger club looking to take him effected him .Either way he is poor going backwards at present and I would be shocked if Wallace does not take his spot immediately

He gave every decision to them in the second half. There were countless fouls on our players he didn't give.
Did you not see that?

Nether Kane or Manning are proper fullbacks IMHO, both are positionally poor and Kane lacks pace, so both get targeted by opposing sides. Losing Leistner was also always going to be a big loss.

Oh mate he was terribly inconsistent. We got nothing from him all day.

I think had we played solidly at the back we'd have still lost that.

They looked really good. That Henry guy at the back was pretty useful too.

The ref, not the reason we lost but it didn't help. Gave two decisions in our favour all day. The early Brentford penalty shout and no second yellow for Hall, in spite of Watkins and others best efforts to get him sent off.

There were numerous claims for fouls, including the Manning incident which led to the first goal, which all seemed to go in their favour.

Also seemed to have an interesting interpretation of the advantage rule, more like the rugby union one. On two occasions he left play develop more than we are used to seeing before calling it back, both, I think, in Brentford's favour. If this were the norm and we had consistency the that would be great but I found it slightly unusual.

So you can't pinpoint any decisions that you disagreed with you just just find an excuse, a poor one at that, to explain yet another shocking performance at Griffin Park. Believe me, we've had some poor referees this season , even when we've won , but yesterday was not one of those days.

He could have sent Hall off but didn't, he could have given them a penalty at 0-0 but didn't and yet some blaming the ref ????

I’m not blaming him for the defeat. He was far less of a factor than many of our own making, but he was poor. No I wouldn’t say there was one real howler but so many soft decisions in their favour which we simply weren’t getting the other way.

The manager just said that their game plan was to press us which clearly works whenever any team does this to us.

I agree that it's probably time to give Wallace a spell at left back. Manning was well and truly beaten for their third.

I honestly think we need a complete shake up at the back. And maybe start masterton for the next couple of games to see how he gets on if not I'll bring in a central Defender and a right back on loan.

It feels desperately like we need another Peacock and tilson moment.... for those of you old enough to remember those two 😁

I thought our biggest problem was our midfield didn't perform and we're over run. This added pressure on the defence of course and we capitulated too easily.

Do you think we miss a bit of steel in midfield? I've been saying that we miss a Derry type player for a few years now. Cameron does it sometimes, as does Ball but both inconsistent

He did nothing wrong so in that sense he handled the game well. And Ive listed the two incidents where he was lenient to us, other refs may may not have been so nice to us. He was no Gurnam Singh.

Our MF is weak as píss....constantly lose possession when pressed which puts pressure on our powder puff defence. It is not hard to see why we concede so many goals and although Lumley is well and truly pony our problems go far beyond him being a terrible keeper.

Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

First and last visit to Griffen Park and what a bloody experience!

I don't often watch us at pitch level and found it interesting seeing players up close.

Most memorable moment was Hall getting turned and bringing down the Brentford player to save his blushes.

I wish we'd start with Wells and Hugill, why not?!

Its all already been said, but its so f***ing frustrating rolling over like that. F**k sake Rangers!!!
[Post edited 11 Jan 2020 21:01]

If we start with them both up front we either have to drop Bright and go 3-5-2 or drop Chair and go 4-4-2, i don't think either option works for us so starting with 1 up front is the way to go imo

It's what generally happens - home teams tend to get the decisions. A big reason why there are far more home iwns than away wins every week.
