Hello all,

Just because they can, IFAB have come up with another load of law changes for 20/21 - whenever that may be - for any referees or anoraks out there, full text can be found on line obviously but here are the 'important' ones in (my) summary form

Yellow cards not carried forward to penalty kicks after et
Arm is defined as from the 'bottom of the armpit'
GK can now receive a yellow (or red) card if he touches the ball (inc with hand) twice after a restart
Yellow card for any offence that stops a promising attack (not just a foul)
Not retreating at a drop ball = YC
Advantage played or quick free kick given for breaking up promising attack - no going back and giving a yellow
Penalties missed (but not saved) - doesn't matter if GK moves, its still a miss
No yellow card for GK if he moves but saves - just a warning and a retake
Holding now has to 'impede progress' of an opponent to be penalised
and finally the controversial accidental handball by an attacker is only penalised if it leads directly to a goal or a pass to person who the scores from the pass - ie no looking 5 passes back for a handball

Plenty more, would you believe, word changes and some obscure ones that I can't be bothered to pass on!

Do stay safe and well

Cheers

Paul

Actually referring to being 'cheated' in Anglesey with the new dropball rule.
We waited for the opposition to retreat 3yds for our possession from the drop, ref drops ball anyway, they nip in before our player touches it and they get taken down for a penalty.
We are officially the hardest done team in amateur football, fact

Well that doesn't sound correct.

If you had possession when the game was stopped, drop ball should have gone to your team.

Oppo should have been 5 yards back and your player needed to touch the ball first.

Surely all holding is impeding an opponent, just let's refs not have to make a decision in the penalty area at set pieces anymore, just let a free for all go on.

Yes have to agree - seems IFAB is moving towards putting in law what most do now in any case.

GK moving when penalty missed and not being penalised is the classic example - every ref I have worked with as an AR has issued that pre match instruction.

That was said from the sidelines! Bizarre to say the least. Our pass had hit the ref and fell to an Anglesey player so ref rightly stopped the game for our drop kick, what happened next was terrible, we'd just equalised too
