| BFG on 18:16 - Aug 13 with 2098 views | R_from_afar | I just read a Tag24 article about Toni, well, more accurately, about his wife, the ex-Miss Universe Germany Josefin. The article is from 19th July. In a nutshell: The Leistners have a tricky situation because Josefin is due to give birth to their second child in mid-September. The article says they are living out of *four* suitcases (you have to admire the precision of German journalists). She has told Toni she wants to know by the end of August latest where they are going to be living; they have moved out of their place in Cologne and have been staying with friends in Berlin and family in Saxony. The point is made that depending on the timing, she may not be able to fly to wherever Toni ends up playing. Oh, and their three year old daughter Clara is said to be greatly looking forward to having a sibling. If it's a little boy, she wants it to be called Eberechi. Or Shabazz, either is fine, she says. | "Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1." |

I really don't get these 'going backwards' comments. Not just yours gazza there have been many others too. If we sign so and so we are 'going backwards' if we persist with so and so we are' going backwards' Really the only way we can go backwards is if we get relegated to League 1. What everyone needs to realise is that we are treading water here, have been for the last 3/4 seasons and probably will be for the next 3/4 at least until we get our finances in order. While 13th was nice, combined with some pretty football, if we had finished 18th, it wouldn't have made any difference in the greater scheme of things. (Better start a new paragraph here for you perfectionists out there. Clearly, despite a 1st Class Honours in Lit and an MA in Lit Ed I bow to superior knowledge) Warburton's primary remit is to keep us in this division while the finances are being sorted out. His secondary remit is to develop young players from the academy and increase their re-sale value to help facilitate this financial restructuring. He succeeded on both counts, which is why he still has a job here and McClaren doesn't. But, guess what? His remit for 20/21 will be exactly the same, most likely without Eze , BOS and Manning, ( because he succeeded at the second bit) And if he keeps us in the division next year and Chair/Masterson become saleable assets then he will have succeeded again. And he'll be asked to do the same again in 21/22. In the meantime these players sold (or released because they are earning too much money ) have to be replaced with cheaper options and SOMETIMES that option is to hold onto what you have (remember it's all relative, Leistner a cheaper option than Hall) or going for someone tried and tested like Smith, or bringing in someone like Amos, as well as taking a punt on someone like Thomas. That's not 'going backwards' that's just commonsense economics, until we are on a sound financial footing

I bow to your superior knowledge of MW job description Myke.........all I am saying is that if the BFG plays frequently or quite often, 15 plus games, whatever we will not be moving forward like, I believe, we have done last season both on and off the field in many ways.

I can just picture John Terry urging Villa to sign him.

That would be great. I’d pay good money to watch big Toni iron the racist out.
