You may notice or pick up on the fact that he is just a bit of a fan. If this doesn't put a smile on your face you're made of rock! [Post edited 5 Oct 2020 17:52]

| Adomah signs on 20:23 - Oct 5 with 1601 views | NoDiddley | Goes against the grain of what Warbs or Sir Les are trying to do ? I don’t give a fcuk, this fella brings more enthusiasm than I’ve ever seen, that includes Birch, Gallen, & Cook. Good luck my son it’s a shame we can’t be there to welcome you. | | | |

I don't think we'd have signed him if it wasn't on a free but not really hugely different to the Pugh signing last year in terms of adding good senior pros to the dressing room who still have something to offer

| Adomah signs on 18:44 - Oct 5 by BrianMcCarthy | I think most fans, including me, would have Amos as a squad player. He wouldn't make my regular First XI as of today. I just don't think he's terrible like you do. I think he's an average Championship player with potential to improve albeit lacking a bit of bollock and bite. A couple of the ratings sites gave him good marks for Saturday, one of them scored him at 7.2. I think that's too high but it shows he's doing some things well. |
Don't want to side-track what is a celebration of signing Adomah, but I feel you are wrong about Amos. I think he is a top player who - so far- has not overcome the trauma of a serious, potentially career-threatening injury. I fully accept that there is no indication of that on the playing field, except in flashes - more notably in the opening game v Forest. However, you only have to look at the opinion of the Spurs fans pre-injury and the genuine regret they felt at his transfer, to become aware of the potential of the lad. If, IF he can overcome that psychological barrier, we will have a quality player on our hands. If not, then your assessment of him being an average championship squad player, will probably be accurate. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Myke, I've been one of the few posters defending him on here. I think he has contributed in places and I think he has upside.

| Adomah signs on 05:01 - Oct 6 with 1081 views | stainrods_elbow | Fabulous, heart-warming, uber-genuine interview - he makes Mackie look dour! Realistically, at his age, he's only got a couple more years in him, but should hopefully help galvanise us both on and off the pitch. Interesting to learn we'd been in for him before, but couldn't afford him (or to put in another way, despite being a fan, his wage demands were too high). It's always fascinating to behold the performative interstices of football professionals like Ollie, Mackie and Adomah etc. playing the parts of starry-eyed amateurs who'd almost manage/play for nothing, especially when there may be a grain or two of truth in it. 'Imagine you were me', seems to be the marketing message - but of course we're not, even though the game they play with us (and we with them) suspends that seam of disbelief. When Adomah kises the badge, he's still, ultimately, another professional impersonating a fan, even if he was once 'just' a fan. To pick up another poster's image, I certainly don't have a rock for a heart, but I may have a few pebbles in my psyche! They keep me mindful that football is theatre, not truth. | |

Didn't mean to imply you were constantly putting him down Brian. You described him in the previous post as an average championship squad player. Certainly, based on his season and a bit with us that would be accurate. My point was, that I don't think he is an average championship player like say Ball is, when he is playing at his max. Or like Cameron is, when his best days are clearly behind him. I think -with precious little evidence to date granted, -that he is a cut above that, if he can ever get his head right.

Fair point, and I agree with a lot of that. I do think he has potential to improve as he gains experience and gets further away from the ACL injury. And when I say 'average Championship player' I don't mean to be dismissive as that's a very high level.
