I wondered whether it was a newly created word too. Maybe it embiggens the language.

Not here I think the Patrons (dont call them fans) are very well behaved and respect the history of this course plus there is lots or rules posted around the grounds .Of course it did not stop the tiger fans heckling Molinari last year and cheering his water balls on 12 and 15 .they forgot it was not a Ryder Cup I guess pretty disgusting behavior IMO I walked these grounds 3 years ago its beyond stunning hope every golf fan on here can go sometime

We were in Portrush last year a couple of months before the Open. Whilst driving along the north coast, we pulled in to have a nose - the temporary stands were going up nice and early. Depending on where you are on that route, you can get some wonderful views of the course and its surroundings - it is truly magnificent, so we decided that on our return, we would book a round - all in good time, and do what we had to do. When we got home I made a few enquiries - very expensive, up to £250 a round, but it is a once in a lifetime occasion and we could put the money aside over time. Fair enough. Any "applicant" also needs to be a member at their golf club with a handicap of no higher than 18. Not good, but I get it. Finally, you need a letter from your club saying that you are a jolly good fellow. Now you are being silly - so stick it.* Plenty of incredible links courses over there for far less money that are friendlier and much more accessible. Golf can still be a bit of an ar5e sometimes. *All correct last time I checked.
| Did I ever mention that I was in Minder? |

I’d made provisional plans to go to the open a couple of years ago when it was at Troon as I have a mate who lives in nearby prestwick and was prepared to put me up for a couple of nights.I could’ve bought a weekly ticket for a reasonable price too,but I deliberated too long and missed the boat. I have another mate in the Wirral,so I might go there when it returns to that area.I want to go and see how far these b@stards hit a ball just to make me feel more inadequate about my golf game.

Suggest you go to the next Ryder cup in Europe (Rome, what's not to like) - the most incredible experience. I've been lucky enough to go the last four on European soil and each one has been a wonderful weekend (Europe winning every time certainly helps). c.£450 for three day ticket but really worth saving up for, worth every penny.

I’ve been to Rome for the rugby 3 times and it’s a fantastic place to go so I might investigate that a bit.I just saw it’s at Whistling Straits next year and Rome in 2023. [Post edited 13 Nov 2020 12:56]

Went last time it was at Lytham, great weekend, saw the best players in the world and bizarrely Carlos Tevez who was carrying for an Argentinian golfer (can’t remember his name though)stayed in Blackpool which was a bit of a dump but a good laugh. If you’re in to golf thoroughly recommend a visit to an Open.

Do NOT waste your time or money going to America to see the RC at Whistling Straits its a nightmare location for any tournament never mind the Ryder Cup.Its a links course with tricked up greens and the site lines for spectators absolute rubbish .Plus its going to be full of drunk obnoxious fans who just manage to destroy the experience for Europeans IMO A few friends of mine went to see the PGA Championship there and had to keep calling home to see who was winning it was that crowded and they could see nothing. Now imagine 4 games per session with 30000 people on the grounds brutal (if fans are back of course ) Sit at home watch it in HD walk to the bathroom ,have a nice sandwich instead .Plus it will probably be a one sided win for the Yanks their team is loaded with talent

I wonder do TV soccer fans feel the same way I would love to see Lowry wini it - just made an amazing putt on the 14th. Hopefully,he'll make the cut. Anyone, but McIlroy - knob
