I do feel awful for booing him when he came back with Sheff Wed, I adored him as a player and was furious when he left, believed the bullshit about him forcing through a move
His commentary is superb, i will genuinely miss listening to him when i can go back to games. As others have said just a genuinely nice bloke. I went down to the ground to pick up some tickets a few years back and I passed him on the street and for me was very brave in saying alright mate to him and he stopped for a 5 minute chat about all things QPR, didn't have to do that. Then a week or so later on the day of the game we went to the fan zone bit and he was there, he came over and knew my name and had another chat then was great with my son talking to him. Again didn't have to do any of that but sums him up.
I did a tribute video to him on my youtube channel and his top 10 goals, links below if you want a bit of nostalgia
I was in the paddock when Andy first returned with Sheff Wed and have always remembered the abuse he got as the players came out. Someone shouted "Sinton you're a w*nker" and he looked up and nodded but looked very hurt. I felt terrible even though it wasn't me (honestly). He's now doing a fantastic job as club ambassador and his love for QPR really comes across in his commentaries. He clearly hasn't held a grudge, which I think is a lesson for us all.
I saw him after the 50th anniversary game of the LC win at Wembley and I asked if he knew about Ron Hunt's health at the time. I told him what Roger Morgan had told me and he began to look a little serious and said he would try to get in touch with him ASAP. Next home game he saw me and came over to let me know that he had spoken on the phone to Ron a couple of times and was driving to Weston Super Mare? to go and see him the following week. I saw him again at the next home game after that and before I could say thank you to him for what he was doing for Ron, he thanked me for letting him know about it. That's the measure of the bloke and I hope he is at QPR until long after I shuffle off.
He walks past us in Ellerslie to get up to the gantry before and at half time of every game and I have never seen him not willing to stop and give his time to anyone wanting a word. We are very luck to have him.
watching Andy walking across the pitch to the gantry the security guy opens the gate for him to walk though... as he walked up the steps I mentioned to him... if that was 20 years ago you would have said to that security guy.. "don't bovver to open the gate I jump over" he stopped turned around and said to me laughing you're spot on.... yeah he has the time for his fellow supporters
