The Mars Volta, Manchester Apollo 2008. Singer pulled a bunch of us onstage as he lamented the distance between us and them . Grabbed my mate by the hand, and I came next. We all sat there and rocked out to a 12-minute epic. Organisers threatened to pull gig so after the song we all shook hands and jumped off the stage. Favourite band at the time too.
Devin Townsend, Salisbury Cathedral, 2015. Acoustic performance. Had some cracking Icelandic pale ale (Einstok) before the gig with the ex. At the end, he jumped off the stage and had a chat with everyone, one by one. Brilliantly personal gig. He mentioned Wales, when he visited Folly Farm. Quite surreal.
Bulford Army Barracks, 2017. My band. Played for the sappers for their summer party. Free booze everywhere. Caskets of ale, bottles of wine, the finest spirits. Cracking gig; I can't really remember the 2nd set. Pulled some Brazilian sort and did the deed next to my comatose bassist. Van broke down on the way back home. Magic. |  | | |

The Swansea Arena is a big plus for the city nice to have a nice size venue on our door step, I found the acoustics better than the Cardiff Utilita and have enjoyed the concerts I have seen there and more booked. Long may they keep bringing the bands there.

The Stereophonics gig at Morfa was a formative experience. 25 years later it's still a touchstone for the friends I had then, most of whom are still friends now.
I'm not much of a gig goer though. Have seen Dire Straits, Wishbone Ash, Bryan Adams, Iron Maiden, AlterBridge, Bruce Dickinson and Kings of Leon live as headliners. Of those mentioned I'd probably put Dire Straits, Iron Maiden and Alterbridge on top. |  |

Too much material to choose from at least in the early days of a bands career buy one album and you are guaranteed to know at least half the set list. I felt the same at that gig.
Try and make a point now of buying the latest release to coincide with a tour can make the concert that more rewarding. Really enjoyed the Kings of Leon at the Liberty after buying the Mechanical Bull album, did buy too many albums of their at the time and haven't listen to them much but enjoyed the latest release at the time. | | | |

Special mention for Metallica on the Death Magnetic Tour at Nottingham. Phoned my wife after the gig to tell her I wouldn't be coming home that night. Crashed at my cousin's place. Then drove to Manchester the next day, bought a ticket from a tout outside the M.E.N. and watched them again!
Motorhead on the 'Bomber' tour, as the plane hosting the light show descended down to the stage, Lemmy got in, and the plane took off again into the lighting rig above.
Hawkwind, with Ginger Baker. Best drum solo I've ever heard.
AC/DC with Axel Rose, AC/DC with Bon Scott, AC/DC with Brian Johnson.

Sensational Alex Harvey band on another event would have topped The Who as the headline act onstage .
Hawkwind at the Brangwyn Hall way back in the day was a memory but not my taste then as I was dragged along by a mate .
Queen and Adam Lambert in Brum few years back was the ultimate theatre show with the gimmicks thrown in for effect .
Focus with 100 in the audience last year in my local Arts Centre , a brilliant show again . | | | |

The Mrs loves Alison Moyet - about 6 years ago I was looking for tickets as a birthday present. Found a gig in the Cotswolds and bought tickets, didn't do any research into the venue, other than location. Turned out it was nothing more than a village hall and the gig was a local fundraiser - the smaii stage was about 2ft high. Ms Moyet was backed by an accoustic guitarist and.did about an hour of her hits superbly. The Mrs stood at the front almost face to face with her - a priceless experience
A couple of years later Alison was supporting Tears for Fears in Liverpool and we got tickets again - she, as usual, was great, but Tears for Fears were absolutely brilliant, something I hadn't expected..
As a total contrast, went to a gig in Cardiff, 2008 ish, Joan Jet, Motorhead & Alice Cooper (one of my favourites growing up) he didn't dissapoint, superb, rock theatre [Post edited 25 Jul 8:50]
