They were warned. But musicians said no to MP3 and streaming from their own websites. It was all piracy they said. Now Spotify and YouTube own them hard. They could have done it themselves, separated from the big record corps, created their own sites or streaming service. Of course, they tried once the game was up and also way over. Too late then. "But we didn't know" they will say, but they did, how many forum posts on weirdo websites that even musicians frequented back in the 90's day said, "either the artists accept the change and own it or it will own them". What makes it worse is the new generations coming through have to suffer for their arrogance. Spotify and these types of companies are not hip, they are the parasites that overwhelmed their host. They should be nationalised and all profits should go to the artists directly to encourage more art to come forth. |  |
