QPR - Quiet Players Reinvigorated 21:42 - Nov 29 with 2856 viewsBazzaInTheLoft

Andre Gray and Andre Dozell both came here is a inconsistent messes.

What a nice change it makes to turn players around rather than turn them out!

Yea really pleased for both. Dozzell is looking a tremendous player and Grays goal tonight was special

Agreed. There clearly are no passengers on this team. It was underlined for me when Ravel Morrison was taken off in the second half after touching the ball two or three times at most. To think we had on our team... twice. There's absolutely no way that would happen now.

I think we would see even more from Dozzell if we had more pace up front. His instinct is to look for a forward ball rather than keep the Tiki Taka going, but with Austin alone up front, he has had to give up and turn back. It felt at times on Wednesday that he was gumming up the ball movement but he was hoping to play it into a dangerous area rather than just move the defence around.

I've been less than confident about Gray in last month or two. But tonight he was perfect as a sub. We should've scored 3 not just the one when he came on and he was involved in both chances for Chair and Willock.

Dozzell is a tidy player and probably somebody who will thrive when chair goes AFCON because I assume Stef will be moved up and field come in alongside Dozzell.

I'd think Amos would be a better fit to replace Chair, but who knows. It's just nice to have options.

Dozzell has the potential to be another Faurlin.

Never knowingly right.

Still not lost a game that Dozzel has started this season

There are a lot of options. Does Warbs play with one up top because he prefers that formation or because its the only way of shoe-horning Chair and Willock into the same team. Without Chair might we go two up top?

I didn't even realise he was playing until he was subbed off.

West London Sport gave their match ratings and are normally very generous with the points they hand out.

Dozzel only got a 5

Andre Dozzell: 5
Bypassed too often in midfield in the first half by Derby’s Shinnie and Max Bird, and guilty of passing for the sake of passing at times. Had two decent shooting opportunities before half-time but opted to lay the ball off and the chances went begging. Needs to do more when in possession.

Yes felt he should have shot first half but a few others were guilty of that. Feel he is a positive presence in our team always keeping the ball moving, rarely giving the ball away and looking to drive us forward

captains fantastic

I like his passing and his movement.

His defensive play needs a lot of work though. Too often caught the wrong side of his man, gives away too many cheap free kicks, and is next to useless in an aerial battle.

I don’t mind the free kicks. After being hit by so many breakaway goals with defenders up-field - Bristol City, Peterborough, Preston, etc - it seemed like an instruction went out to foul as soon as we lose the ball rather than pay later. Dozzell has been in throughout the run of improved form so he looks like a villain rather than a hero.

Warbs, tried when they have been injured he tried to play two up front. Willock and Chair are in the team as they create more chances so, he cannot drop them. It does not work as the oppo double up on whoever is left in the team and they get swamped out of the game.

Warbs has tried dropping a midfielder and that has left JoJo isolated who gets overrun in midfield and the opposing team dominates us.

Warbs makes it work as Willock can drop into a striker role sometimes so, the team can get away with it. That's how good Willock is, he can play everywhere up front. Warbs has even had him drop into LWB a few times this season.

Chair is only slightly better as his running is slightly more than Willocks and only as he runs all day. And Chair has slightly better long-range passing and releases it a little quicker. But Willock is improving so fast that there is not much in it. They are both pushing each other, which is great for the team.

zzzzzzzzzz

Agree with all of this.

Definitely can push Willock up a bit when Chair's not around, as Chair seems to play a bit more around the penalty area, and then move Jojo forward and have two of Dozzell/Field/Amos/Ball as defensive mids. I prefer Jojo a bit further up anyway. We've got a lot more options now people are coming back from injury and Dozzell seems to have really started finding his feet in the team. I think Mark has managed him magnificently after his torrid experience against Barnsley. And he's clearly learned from Jojo as he does some of his distinctive passing. He just needs to keep his concentration a bit more towards the end of games as he can fade a bit and start to give the ball away. But that will come.

the team functions far better with one up front, allows us to create more in midfield

Exactly and the way Chair and Willock are playing together, it would be stupid to go two up top unless you really had to.
