He was brought on because he'd been the keeper throughout their League Cup run. Why he didn't retain his place for the final, like the Liverpool keeper Kelleher did who 'd also played throughout their run, is anyone's guess. |

Yes.It happened in the MLS last season.They tried to bring on a keeper from the bench to replace him,but it was only when the next penalty was going to be taken that someone whispered in the refs ear that you can’t make a substitution during a penalty shootout.They had to put an outfield player in goal and he saved the next penalty,but they lost in the end if I remember rightly. |
Yes that's right although you CAN swap your GK for an outfield player before the shoot out or if the GK gets injured in the shoot out.

They had the better chances, but Liverpool also had some belters as well as a couple of very close offsides - it was hardly a smash and grab!
