I got lambasted for playing Byrd's 'Change' in a swanky London disco because it would "attract the wrong sort". For me, it was a welcome relief from the bloody Bee Gees.

On one occasion that I played 'Change' in the swanky disco, a guy who'd have been thought of as the wrong sort, came up beside me on the turntables all on his own and danced his heart out to that song. It was very unusual and very wonderful. Never forgot that. I think it was after that I got lambasted.
