Talksport Tonight 18:33 - Apr 12 with 7321 views | ParkRoyalR | Thought twice about starting this thread as Clive has enough on his plate so I'll try and not go overboard, very rarely listen to Talksport but it was on when I jumped in the car and heard someone saying... 'We could have shipped 5 against Preston' Didn't immediately clock who it was and then realise it's Austin, in + out of the car, 15 minutes later they are all talking about Lukaku and Austin comments... 'Like me, he thought they would build the attack around him' This shoptalk just cannot be good for team morale as I'm sure the likes of Field, Dunne, Dykes not to mention Warburton can be too delighted with Austin's opinion being broadcast nationwide. I'll leave it there as could have mis-heard but 100% sure I heard him right!

Talksport Tonight on 19:46 - Apr 12 by daveB | He's co hosted that show on and off for over a year now, I think if it was an issue for the club they probably wouldn't have signed him. Anyway for what it's worth this is what he actually said about QPR On Sheffield Utd the EFL reporter they had on said he was about to come on at Sheff Utd before Wallace got injured, Austin said "We had to bring another left back on instead" On the Preston game We started OK, had changed to a back 4 and they scored from a mistake by us. Our number 1 Westwood was sick in the warm up so Murphy Mahoney had to go in goal who is only 19 and make his debut which was fantastic for him. To be fair he was brilliant for us because it could have quite easily been 5 without him. When asked if they are still we are still in it he said we need 5 wins and it won't be easy They then moved on to review other EFL games. Maybe put the pitchforks away for the evening The Lukaku quote above was talking about how he thought Lukaku would have the team built around at Chelsea as Lukaku would have but that didn't happen. was nothing to do with QPR or his own situation that bit. Thanks Dave, yet another conspiracy theory to put on the bonfire with all the others.

Talksport Tonight on 21:01 - Apr 12 by ParkRoyalR | Don't think so, 1st quote was..their 1st goal came from our mistake...now I thought it came from good movement from their forward...surprised Austin didn't recognise this and instead called out Dunne 2nd Quote was...they could easily have scored 5... and did'nt hear but for young Mahoney Murphy..either way, sure Dunne, Field and Co won't be too enamoured with that comment as arguably we could have scored 5 too 3rd quote...I'm 100% sure I heard Austin say...like me, Lusaka thought they'd build the team around him By all means give it a listen Punter and tell me he didn't say..like me.. |
1st goal - Clive's description.... He was badly let down, in two killer moments immediately before and after half time, by the defenders in front of him........Kind of Preston to give advance notice of intention, dim of QPR to ignore it — a cross from Hughes down their left minutes before half time allowed to come in too readily, target man Riis running across the front of Dunne too easily, nothing the goalkeeper could do about the finish which has gone down as an own goal but looked and looks like a Riis goal to me.

Talksport Tonight on 21:07 - Apr 12 by daveB | The Lukaku bit he did say Like me, he was saying he thought Lukaku would have team built around him and that Lukaku probably thought the same as well, It was nothing to do with QPR. I think you may have read a bit too much into that. On the rest of it I think it's safe to say if you don't like Austin you'll find fault and get angry about whatever he says or does. It sounded too me like a pretty bland summary of the game and I can't see how it would upset the other players. To say he called out Dunne is complete twaddle. I imagine the players are far more blunt in the changing room about this kind of thing than what he said here. Warburton himself said pretty much the same thing after the game. On that last part, regular football watchers live or even on TV sometimes, will see players 'calling each other out" all the time and as you say Warburton often says its an angry dressing room after a defeat and they are not angry about the temperature of the showers!

Not quite, from quote above Austin did not use the words 'without him' after saying 'it could have quite easily been 5', not sure where this came from but it does change context imo. I took the above as a criticism of the defence and team and am sure Dunne did'nt appreciate being called out for a 'mistake' causing the 1st goal. Call it a conspiracy theory if you like, but I have it first hand from the lad in the Princess Victoria that night he told he had the 'hump', which is why he sat it out in the Ellerslie Road stand and decided to head to the PV for some post-match beers (since confirmed by another poster on here direct from one of Austin's closest pals who attends all our home games). Warburton had no option but to make a rare early substitution that night as Austin's lack of fitness was jaw-dropping, honestly, I hav'nt seen anybody stagger around the pitch like that since they dropped the half-time run around the pole game.

Fair enough, we all know where you stand on Mr A, but if you're going over old ground, so will I. What you say about 'subgate' may well be true, but if you look at the footage from the penalty shoot out, you can see Austin, Warburton and George Thomas standing together laughing, if he really was as p*** off and MW was really as p*** off as you think, it certainly makes for puzzling viewing - no need for Austin to be on the sideline at all, let alone near MW, let alone laughing and joking with him.

And I can’t remember a poster whinging about one of our own players so persistently ever. Give it a rest.

Warburton, as we know, is an ultimate professional and a penalty shoot-out was probably not the ideal time to dress-down a player for creating a precedent at our stadium in decanting to the stands on being substituted. Was Warburton really laughing and joking during the penalty shoot-out? Or was that his reaction afterwards amongst a group of players, which in that context, is completely understandable. I believe Warburton subsequently said the matter was addressed behind closed doors and was closed (although he has'nt really started Austin since and even prefers Chair as his 2nd striker), hardly a comment suggesting we both thought it was hilarious. To be given time off on compassionate leave (presume Austin did'nt ask for unpaid leave), to then decant into The Ellerslie Road Stand and The PV, to then tweet looking for recommendations for someone to build a home Bar and for your Mrs to tweet complaining you're an unused sub, you really do have to laugh (unless you're funding or trying to manage this comedy side-show). | | | | Login to get fewer ads
