Went to Southend v Torquay yesterday. Two midtable sides with nothing to play for. SDM was bright and ran around a lot but if you didn't know he was a QPR player you wouldn't have been too fussed with his performance, faded second half like Torquay did. Gubbins looked ropey as the left sided defender first half, not helped by the Southend defence which allowed Torquay in a number of times and were lucky their strikers were offside/not very good. Second half he was better but as the team was pushing forward he was mainly a left winger, decent delivery tbf. Overall though wasn't hugely impressed with either, it makes you wonder if the level doesn't help as the quality wasn't too good from either side. Hope they do push on but wasn't evident yesterday. | |
