Watching Forest tonight 20:36 - Oct 10 with 4888 views | KeithHaynes | I can see why their fans are frustrated, it’s similar in a lot of ways to when Cooper was at Swansea. The obvious passes being missed, frantic determination on the ball. Credit to then, god loves a trier.

I just said the same. Gibbs-White looks the only decent player on the pitch. Who did they buy Dennis from? I know he scored but he was awful till he got subbed.

They have very little goal threat. Frightening when you think about the amount they have brought in. Surely a 30m striker plus another ten would have been better ?

After all the cash they have spent they bring on Lewis o’Brien. That sums up their expenditure for me.

That’s also a pretty similar story to what he was given when here, wanted a striker but given a sub keeper, a sub right back, a central midfielder, a winger and an injured forward and people stated he “was backed” as a result, yet clearly didn’t want to use them. Coops tends to do the best with what he has though, valuable point tonight lifting them above Leicester. That may give the players the confidence to push on and achieve that goal of safety. It’s only 2 points away for them currently.

I’m not slating him at all, but come on, not one goal scorer of any note in all those signings mate ?

I’m agreeing with you, I’m sure Coops would be in complete agreement too. The signings they have inflicted on him and expected him to work miracles with, I imagine was one of the main reasons he refused to sign the contract they put in front of him. As we know, managers have very little input into cash signings. That’s why I likened it to January when he asked for a striker and was given a load of players he could barely use.

The American signings were dreadful agreed. But has he really not had any input in to those twenty plus players ? I know that’s the way football can go these days but no new striker who can turn a game with all those signings is frightening. Maybe he will spend 25m on Piroe in January 😉

I’m sure he’s had some input into some of them, but certainly not the vast majority. Gibbs-White, Hennessey and Neco Williams I would say are his signings. The rest I wouldn’t be shocked if they were signed by committee, they don’t make sense as Cooper signings. It’s not his style. Agents approaching the owners and being salesmen. For example there is no way Serge Aurier gets signed without an agent cold calling the owners, that one screams a committee signing.

Given that many of those signings were made in August, not sure that is any reason for him not to sign a contract in the summer. They were very poor tonight. Luckily for them, so were Villa. Can't see them surviving as they will get hammered by the better sides in the division ( which is probably at least 15 of them )

That he wanted control over signings? That would of course be known well in advance. Seems entirely reasonable to me when that is the exact reason he left his old job and made his feelings known for weeks after the January transfer window. Anyone who is seriously suggested he knocked on the owners door and asked for a new squad are either deluded or trying to misrepresent a situation because they have been starved of being able to slag him off with all the success he has had. I think the sensible among us will know exactly what has happened at Forest with the signings, it’s extremely unlikely they were brought in by Coops. The owners are notorious meddlers.

If they succeed then they're Cooper signings. If they fail then they were foisted on him and actually he wanted someone else. That's generally how it works.

The new contract means nothing if they want him out he will be gone, just the same as if he wants to leave he will.
