Woke police edit Gareth’s interview 00:48 - May 20 with 6663 viewsJules4367

On the south coast around Bournemouth and on the Isle of Wight there are natural features called Chines which derives from Medieval English and earlier and refers to a crack or narrow opening!

Also derived from this path is an old English word for a brief slit of light and it Is an age old idiom that refers to a weakness in armour which one would be aware of or look for to possibly exploit as well as the sound made when glasses are brought together in a toast.

The madness of wokism is that there are word police who are fearful that words may be misinterpreted and hence the text for Gareth’s interview substitutes asterisks when he uses this old English word- in the correct context- solely because seeing the word may cause offence!

He used a phrase with absolutely no racial meaning, slur or intent but it has been censored by the text police !

Are we now to remove every word from our dictionaries and all there derivatives that ‘could’ be deemed ‘offensive’ even if it is used in the correct context and with absolutely no remote link to and pejorative or racist intent in the age old phrase?!

I’m getting old and the world’s gone mad!!

I once swore in front of my dearly departed mother when I was a young teenager. I said the word Fck. She shouted oi you dirty little sod how dare you say that word.
I replied but mum you hear much worse words on telly. I heard the word murder I replied and I said to her I’m sure you’d rather be Fcked than murdered.

Grealish said the F word today on Sky TV to Haaland.
"I fecking love you man" he said whilst hugging the rather large specimen that Haaland is.

A quick apology and move on by the commentators and back to the Citheh love fest that it was.

No woke needed.
Simples.

The very first time I used a computer some 30 years ago as part of a college course at Cornwall College/ Camborne School of Mines the task given was to write a CV. Immediately the autocorrect decided I wasn’t living in Newlyn, I was living in Nylon. This is going to be interesting I thought.

If I want to disparage something or someone, I use a word like “unavailing”.
Although I suppose even that will upset somebody in the dim and distant future.

When Western civilisation finally crumbles into the sea after the inevitable capitalist fuelled climate collapse and breakdown of society, Chinese historians in their floating nuclear bunkers will look back at this forum and say ‘why the fck did these people spend their time getting angry at automated swear filters?’

Lol the Chinese can barely design and build a working tin opener, and when they do it breaks within 20 spins, so best of luck with these "floating nuclear bunkers" you've made up in your head.

And why did those who knew it was going to happen spend their time commenting about other people commenting about automated swear filters........

I just tipped orange power all over the pool table at my local.

What did you do for the planet today?

In all seriousness this thread and the contrived culture war I general is ridiculous to the point of comment, hence mine.

But you seem to think this culture war is being contrived by middle-aged men & women who don't want their speech being policed by annoying activists, and not said activists throwing orange powder around & causing disruption to people who're just trying to get on with their lives. I think that's the bit you're getting wrong. Other than that, I agree.
