Mcnulty 18:00 - Nov 6 with 38819 views | Brewer123 | Hi All, Burton Fan here! Your manager Jim Mcnulty has become overwhelming favourite it seems for our job. Is he someone you hold in a high regard or someone you're not fussed about losing? What's his style of football/formation? Best of luck for the remainder of the season (don't return the favour...season over already!!)

I'd be surprised if he would want away and got turned down, but we don't know the facts. It could have been just a curious approach by Burton and Mcnulty wanted to see the package in case it was life changing. If Mcnulty staying is true, this news then settles and reinvigorates the squad . Putting a smile on these players who he, offered opportunities to, or convinced to come here and make a name for themselves. Bloody Great. Because i guess these players were wondering WTF. We need Jim to continue the momentum of winning more games than we lose, giving us a shot in the playoffs. Repay the faith the management put him in.

'McNulty could have wanted to see the packaging in case it was life changing' ...he's got a three year deal at the Dale, i don't think the upgrade in salary at Burton would have been life changing. It's very much feasible that he wanted the job, had a interview but wasn't successful, i don't think McNulty comes out of this in a good light at all. If he did go as far as the interview process (that's a very strong rumour) then he was obviously interested in leaving his position and taking the Job, you don't go for job interviews unless you're interested and you don't go for job interviews if you're committed to your current job. I get it that he's got his career and family to consider but let's be honest about this, he only signed a three year contract just over four months ago and he's already had a interview for another job apparently, if i was Cameron Ogden/ Simon Gauge I'd be fuming about that and very disappointed. I understand there's no loyalty in football but four months into your contract and you're actively looking to leave for another job is very poor and if this is what's happened then McNulty is bang out of order i think and it throws the three year plan up into the air. A plan that the Ogden family are committing a lot of money into. The Ogden family and the club are our priority aren't they? I'd rather look at this situation from the perspective of our club and the Ogden family, rather than what McNulty wants. They gave him a fantastic three year contract and financial security, two minutes later he's applying for other jobs instead of concentrating on what he signed up for (those in the boardroom and the manager will know if thats a fact or not). If that sits well with others then thats fine but i'm calling it out for what it is, its disrespectful to everybody connected with the club. I don't think the players will be very impressed with it neither. If this is what's happened and i was the owner of the club I'd be looking to move McNulty on now, you're trusting your money to a manager who doesn't have the ambition to commit to the project that he signed up to. The haste in which he's looked to jump ship tells you that. [Post edited 13 Nov 7:40]

Here he is, the poppet master himself. I know nothing through the club, it’s from ann external source. This board is about sharing opinions, and my opinion is that I’m disappointed that a guy we gave their first shot at management to gets his head turned at the first bit of interest. Wouldn’t mind quite as much if it was a bigger club, but the fact is it isn’t, and he’s been tempted at the chance of leaving so soon on to the new project. It doesn’t bode well. He’s only still here due to not being successful, so he clearly wants out.

Not sure what a poppet master is but there you go. I’m well aware of who your “external source” is and it’s no secret he has an axe to grind with one of the co-chairmen. Of course you’re allowed an opinion as am I, hence me sharing it. I find on here that it’s only the posters who are negative about most things are the ones that use that line. If you don’t want to be challenged on your posts then don’t use an internet forum. He’d be daft not to see what they had to say if he’s been approached and until I see his application form for the role I’ll assume that’s what is was - an approach. To suggest he “wants out” is ludicrous and pure sensationalism. I’ll not be reading your PM but thanks for taking the time to send it anyway.

You’ve absolutely no idea who my source is as he has no connection to the club whatsoever.

Mcnulty on 07:40 - Nov 13 with 2128 views | Rodingdale | It looks to me that actual facts are thin on the ground on this thread. Plenty of ifs and understandings. The only fact is there’s a lot of speculation. As ever the club and in this case McNulty could choose to make some facts public in a statement. But without a denial that he applied, will lead the speculation to rumble on, which whether anyone likes it or not, will tend to lead to question his commitment. Lose the next couple of games and it won’t look too good for him…. The alternative is McNulty delivers a long unbeaten run and actions will speak louder than words! Over to you Jimbo!

The only important thing is that those in the Boardroom and McNulty will know the full facts of what has occurred. The fans will find out though, nothing stays in the Boardroom or the club anymore. Just because there is no loyalty in football doesn't mean the fans have to fall in line, keep quiet and condone it neither. [Post edited 13 Nov 7:52]

Fitzo reported that they agreed to pay his compensation, which means we had no choice but to let them speak to him. It could well be Jim desperately wanted to leave, it could also be he had no intention and didn't even want to speak to them but they had the right to. Personally I don't see anything wrong with him wanting to see options for progressing his career, before deciding to stay here - as long as he's still committed, which I see no reason to doubt. The truth is we have no idea, and everything said on here is conjecture.

I would imagine every young manager in the lower reaches of the pyramid would be hungry to progress to a higher level, for both professional and personal reasons. Jim McNulty would be daft not to at least listen to what was being offered, rather than turn them down point blank. I don't for a minute think he's unhappy here, I think he is committed to the job in hand, but also naturally curious as to what else is out there. We can all look at a garage forecourt or an estate agent window, but it doesn't mean we want to buy a car or move house. Wealdstone here we come. Intact.
