Poorly pet dog 09:07 - Jan 6 with 1034 viewskingsburyR

Happy New Year All!!!

This one is proper left field but this board is always a full of helpful information.

Our beloved pet dog has been diagnosed with cancer in her stomach and pancreas. It's an aggressive form and has got into the lymph nodes also. Obviously we are devastated as she only turns 6 on the 20th of this month.

We have started Immunotherapy already but are looking at alternative meds also (CBD oil and Fenbendazole Protocol).

Its a long shot but has anyone got any experience of alternative options?

Not looking for sympathy but some sort of miracle advice....we live in hope.

You R'ssssssssssssssssssssss

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

I have no advice unfortunately but I wish your beautiful dog all the best. And I hope you find some answers to ease her pain.

Unfortunately I have no advice - We had to say goodbye to our beloved Dog just before Christmas as she was diagnosed with mouth cancer a few weeks previous. She had an Operation but the biopsy showed it was the most deadly and aggressive form of cancer she could of had.

We decided not to give her any more operations as it would of been horrific for her so decided to go down the palliative care route until her time came.

It was a tough decision but we enjoyed our last few weeks with her and the painkillers helped keep her comfortable until that day came.

It's bloody tough as they are the heart of family.

Sending all my love and best wishes to you and your four legged friend.

Sorry to hear that mate. We have three dogs and we dearly love them all, so that must be a real worry. Hopefully you can find a successful treatment for her. I'm sure she is very loved.
Fingers crossed for you.

So sorry Kingsbury, I have no knowledge on this.

Would there be a dog owners society local to you? It might have a whatsapp group or advice centre.

I'm very sorry to read this as seeing a pet so ill is horrible.
Immunotherapy is very effective and I suggest contacting the Dog's Trust or All Dogs Matter who maybe can advise on other treatments.
The best of luck to you and your dog.

Wish I could be like David Watts

Wish I could add some positive words, but we also lost our beloved 9yr old Welsh Springer to cancer in 2023. We went through three rounds of Cheamo over a 3 month period, and then had to take the hard decision. She had to wear a donut/cone throughout to stop picking the sores and we probably should have made the decision sooner. We did see a slight improvement at first but I think that was due to the steroids rather than treatment.

Really feel for you and really hope the treatment you find works. The vets will also hopefully give you a steer on how aggressive the cancer is and what action to take.

I got the same diagnosis for one of my dogs a few years ago, I kept him hanging on for too long when in hindsight it would have been better for all of us if I made the hard decision to put him down sooner. I really regret that last week that didn't really need to happen.

It's a very difficult time, my sympathies.

Ah shite…. Only just seen this as I scanned the board
Really sorry to hear this as six is no age for any dog no matter what breed.
People who’ve never had the joy of four paws in the family really will never get it and this really is devastating.

Stay as positive as you can be and just remember the best day of a well cared for and loved dog is the day they just had; they truly live and love life in the moment

In respect of alternative therapies I’ve had limited exposure but heard good things about CBD from wife’s aunt who swore she extended the life of two of her dogs and also her own life.
My direct experience has been via relief of arthritis via supplements etc and had amazing results with those but not huge use to you. Do explore tumeric as a natural pain relief but it can make some dogs stink a bit but not all.

Very best of luck to you and your family
Final reminder….. whatever you do your dog will be eternally grateful to you.

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal
