Race for the playoffs 19:30 - Mar 29 with 2517 views442Dale

Seven teams going for four spots now. Shame Oldham didn’t get a point at Southend, keeping a three point gap between Dale and those outside the top seven.

Currently:
Oldham 66
Halifax 63
Dale 60
Gateshead 60
———
Southend 59
Altrincham 57
Tamworth 57

All teams have played 40 games, apart from us who have two in hand. With 4th/5th being the sides getting a home tie in the playoffs, those slots are now up for grabs as well all of a sudden.

Of particular interest looking at the fixtures, the final day has Gateshead v Southend and Altrincham v Tamworth.

Halifax have now gone four games without scoring a goal and Gateshead’s results haven’t been much better.

Win on Tuesday at Woking and with our superior goal difference that would be a massive three points. Might as well just go for it now, play like we did today and we shouldn't have a problem. Those final day fixtures that you have highlighted could benefit us, only two of those can pick up maximum points. It's in our own hands this now with games running out, we are in a good place.

If Dale can get something on April Fools Day at Woking, there is then the small matter of Spennymoor Town next Saturday to take our minds off the Play-Offs and see if things go in our favour in that regard.........this time next week positions might just be a tad clearer.

Just hope we aint crying in our beer.

A wise man told be 70 points may be enough. I was thinking a couple more. He could be right though.

Gateshead have, Southend, Forest Green and York City to play. Not easy

Tamworth have Altrincham and Forest Green

Altrincham have Halifax and Tamworth

Halifax only play Altrincham from the play off chasing pack

Southend have only Gateshead out of the play off chasing pack

Oldham have Forest Green and York City

I know that so effectively Southend are the team to watch out for. They are also likely to be the team with momentum

You could also throw into the mix that Tamworth vs Solihull is a derby match so anything could happen

Woking look to be quite a hard team to beat, their recent games either drawn or decided by a 1 goal margin. To be honest, I’d settle for a point down there on a Tuesday night….

It's a fantastic chance! McNulty and the team have to have right go at taking this chance! It really is a poor league and that second promotion spot is up for grabs.

Excellent 4-0 win with a performance that shows we are contenders.

If we can pick up 3 points v Woking on Tuesday then our top 7 place is assured this time next week.

Just more of the same Dale!!!! Brilliant yesterday.

How would our top seven place be assured this time next week if we win at Woking?

Indeed, no let up available. The higher we get up in the play offs gives better chance of home tie eliminator.

I think you know what he meant. We are out of league action next weekend and thus can fall back out of the play-off zone if others around us win their games. That won't be possible if we win on Tuesday and create a buffer zone for ourselves. Of course it doesn't mean anything is assured as we still have 7 games to play after Tuesday

Thank you - exactly this..

The players look high on confidence (as they should be) as we enter the final 8 league games of the season.

To be honest, no, I didn't know what he meant, so thanks for the clarification.

Your final sentence supports why there was a misunderstanding.

A very small misunderstanding…

Not sure it was worthy of a pick up but there we are.
