Just ferk off mun
Hate my arse
It’s your turn tonight then

Key did not have a good game and neither did Fulton

Your problem is rosy tinted glasses clouded with hate

Another thread turning poison

Well , have it

One negative tonight. Galbraith.

Yes, that’s right, Galbraith.

Play like he did tonight against Championship sides and he’s a gonner. Bids galore in January.

We need to keep players like him for as long as we can, that’s not half a season.

Twelve million should do it.

Frankly I thought Key had a tremendous game. Fulton also did well when he came on and Fisher was pretty flawless, but then again I watched the game through non-hate filled lenses.

I enjoyed the match overall. Think we were better when we tried to play fluidly on the floor (Widell again excellent) than hitting it down the channels for Idah to chase. Overall I thought Idah did better than Vip did when he came on, but by then we had been increasingly pushed back and our supply of forward balls was limited in comparison.

Lots to think about. Some previously fringe players made a pretty good case for inclusion going forward and you do have to wonder where that kind of tempo has been most of the season.

If Sheehan is going to succeed then that performance, first half especially, has to be a springboard rather than a one off.

I agree about Key, especially in the first half he was excellent.

I also enjoyed the game, considering we were against a top club we did very well.

Agree with every word of your post.

So do I apart from idah, I just think he is still 1 second behind everyone else in our team.

Hopefully with more gametime he will get upto speed but if vip keeps scoring then I dont see how he can.

We did the hard bit and scored a beautiful goal then dig on
Defended resolutely
Then coach subs the best players and we go tippyvtappy even in injury time at 1-2
Players deserve better
If Idah is so haplessthen it makes one wonder why B Wales doesn’t get a chance
Seems logical
He must be gash, to our coach but we might never know

Finally Vipotnik , in form , fit , keen and looking to advance his career is
BENCHED
His reward for winning v Norwich

Beats me anyway

Another clueless post.

You do know we have 3 games in the next 10 days.

Its called squad rotation.

Overall I certainly still prefer Vip and would have him back in the starting XI on Saturday, I just think that of the two, Idah did more tonight.

There's a player there in Idah, but it's going to take some work to get it out of him I reckon. Whether Sheehan (or anyone) is up to the job is open to question.

He probably did but he should imo have done better with his time especially in the first half, in vips defence he came on when we were being overrun.

I thought Key had a great game. He was up against one of the best wingers in the Premiership, and I was expecting Doku to run riot. He was largely kept in check.

Yes exactly. He kept Doku relatively quiet and did his bit going forward, especially in the first 20/30 minutes before they got on top. Can’t expect much more than that.

I thought the formation really suited him (cover closer behind him meant he wasn’t exposed and backpedaling). I hope we go with it at Charlton.

Casey certainly put his hand up, as did Widdell and Inoussa.

It makes you wonder what the scouts saw in him. Maybe they watched his goals on YouTube and thought he will do. Celtic fans were critical of him. I can see why.

One thing you must remember is that Key has pace to burn similar to Doku I thought at times he marshalled him well but I still think he needs to get tighter at times so opposition wingers do not get balls to feet even get tight to make it harder to get get around, yes you then worry about the ball in behind but as we saw with the excellent Casey many of the balls into channels were cut out, the last thing you wanted was Doku running at you with the ball at his feet being able to drive at you pushing you back into the box which is exactly happen for their first goal. This isn't the first time players of quality have been able to push us back into our box Tymon allows himself time and time against to be pushed back backing off constantly, it doesn't work at times the foot has to put in or you get your body in the way to stop that forward momentum stopping us back pedalling into our box, yes but it is Man City and their quality is better but it wasn't in that first twenty minutes nobody could argue that we didn't deserve to be infront.
Idah looked a threat in holding up the ball Inoussa and Widell were causing them problems, but then we dropped off, not getting challenges in, yes Man City upped their game their players had a lot more movement off the ball creating spaces especially making themselves available to their players challenging for the ball in tight situations enabling them to open up spaces but in many instances we stopped our movement, getting tight and putting challenges in.
After Idah's booking his work rate dropped. For me the ref didn't help us in any way, Idah's lunging challenge penalised with a booking but similar by Man City players penalised with fouls but no bookings meaning they kept putting the challenges but we dropped off not getting getting tight enough not matching there movement, Idah now caught between two mindsets does he save his energy to remain a threat or spend it chasing down their central defenders as they drove through the middle of the park allowing ourselves to be press back to be unable to win the ball higher up the park and be a threat, you could say we defended well but we rode our luck by virtually inviting Man City onto us and in the end the pressure told.
As they pressed forward they left themselves open to counter attacks which initially we capitalised on and were unlucky not to go two up.

As for the third goal yes we got picked off but it was inevitable Key presumably under orders to press up too soon, making himself unavailable to balls played across our forward moving back line and passes to him became intercepted on too many occasions easily picked off.

I really think there are really good players and fullbacks in both Key and Tymon but they have picked up some really bad habits in their defensive game.

Key did have a good game, defensively last night and attacking ,Tymon backing off and not putting a foot in is an issue we have every game ,opponents get past him and into our box far too easily, going forward he’s great but not so defensively
Man City had 54 touches in our box , says it all about backing off and not tackling upfield really ,it’s been the same every game this season ,opponents have so much time and space and we don’t stop them running at us through the middle and out wide
Idah is frustrating,he looks slow, people around us last night were calling him lazy for not pressing with much intent ,he looks more of a second forward than a 9
Man City had so much time and space after that 20 mins in the first half ,we did well to stop them running away with the game but the result had an air of inevitability about it
I wish we were more physical because teams like that don’t like it ,Fulton was the only one that left something on their players all game, although the ref let them get away with a lot ,’tactical fouling’as Guardiola calls it ,it’s cynical and should result in yellow cards
Widell and Inoussa played well and should be starting every game now ,let’s get the attention back to the league and hope Sheehan gets us back playing the way we did at the end of last season

We played 5 at the back yesterday we got our challenges in early all round the pitch in that first 20 minutes stifling their progress and catching them cold maybe but deservedly going ahead. Now I am all for consolidating that lead keeping ourselves strong in defence initially but we have seen us back off drop deep and inviting teams on and their pressure tells once that initial backlash subsides we need to go back onto the front foot getting challenges in and moving the ball quickly forward, once we do that and they concede possession as all teams will we have to look to play in the gaps teams leave as they press us, usually that is in the middle of the park and can be exposed with quick play, as opposition defenders press to close those gaps then gaps appear further forward, we are not adapting to utilise those gaps as they appear, we did in that first twenty minutes by the end of the game Man City two one up drooped into defensive mode and we got picked off as we played long balls from our backline into densely packed areas to be caught overcommitting players forward too early so not creating forward momentum with balls to feet and try and build pressure as Man City did giving them opportunities to counter attack effectively.

We are easily beaten at full back central defence we are strong and have several players
Wide men get passed us easily
Somebody needs to analyse the goals conceded and address the problem

We have three big CHs and a great keeper

Richard, we were indeed the better side for the first 20 minutes but after that it wasn’t a case of giving up control but having it snatched off us. In short, they upped their game. And there’s no shame in that, they are Man City after all.

If anyone learnt anything last night, I hope it’s Sheehan both in terms of our set up and tactical moves. I think we should go with 5 at the back for Charlton allowing Key and Tymon a free-er role going forward. Also Widdell really has to start.

In terms of tactics he should study the movement made by Man City, their positioning and off the ball movements. Obviously you can’t coach world class ability into players but you can get the most out of a side with canny tactics / positioning. I’ve been banging in about this quite a bit recently.

No shame in last week. The score didn’t flatter them though I wish we could have seen out just the one goal deficit. Take the positives from it and move on to Saturday.

Good post
As I’ve saud, she shored up until the clever broke and the gulf showed
However, there is enough in this squad to get us much higher and to give us some joy
Widdell looks outstanding , a real dynamo
I’d like to see him and Galbraith either side of Stamenic as our spine
Key and Tymon can be ok going forward
That midfield would be very decent IMO
As to why again VIP was seen worth of starting on bench beats he , almost as much as Cullen taking his training top off

We have a good squad

Agree they took control but initially we contained them well but we consolidated our defensive position after we scored and even force the error that we couldn't quite capitalise on, but there is only so much defending that can be done without being broken down, we allowed their defenders to get further up the pitch which meant any possibility of attacking by us could be snuffed out given we would need to go almost the full length of pitch and if we didn't do it carefully we would become disjointed. No doubt about the quality of the Man City team and as you quoted in your post copied below needs reviewing but is it also about our lack of belief as a team that we can push on to create further chances, we sat back and were opened up.
As you say of Sheehan
"In terms of tactics he should study the movement made by Man City, their positioning and off the ball movements."

In the first 20mins as above ours was excellent and we found weaknesses in their setup.

What was a little disappointing in our play was the way we ended up conceding ground in the middle of the park dropping deeper and deeper and then letting their wingers space and we have seen it before conceding goals late in the first half.
The positive is we matched the, got ahead, then contained their initial onslaught but the negative is we gave up ground far too easily, high up the pitch, more than happy to see teams pass the ball aimlessly back to their goalie with no pentration but not happy seeing centrebacks given free rein to add to a teams attack unchallenged.

I think Sheehan has a bit of a problem with looking after players who may has niggling injurys that means three games in quick succession are causing him problems.

First half was good, but second half we sat back and invited them on, didn't close down their attackers. Yes, they were much better and stronger players - knocking ours off the ball time and time again. It didn't help by us giving away the ball and not being able to pass the ball.

Lost to a much better side, but didn't help ourselves with the tactics and the basics

regardless of rotation, Vipotnik should have started last night.
Two goals in his previous game, looking for a third (when we really needed it) then taken off.

came on 59th minute last night.

Rotation or not, i cannot work that one out.

Start him ffs.

This is why this manager is on borrowed time with us.

My methods are not favoured by some but by god i speak the truth.
