Russel Martin is the clear Favourite 21:59 - Nov 2 with 5790 viewsSouthamptonfan

His odds have shortened dramatically in the last few hours. On good authority that players (Flyn Downes, Stephens, Aribo) have asked for him to be reappointed.

Hmm, well he knows how to get promoted from this league I suppose.

I think Stepens and Lallana could take the reins in a joint managerial partnership with Russell brought upstairs to counsel them .

I do hope your not serious?

I'm sure RM would be an upgrade on WS and would be able to get a tune out of certain players that obviously didn't want to play for WS.

That being said it would show SR's complete lack of ambition to go back to potentially the utter drosh his team served up in the premier league. He would not get us promoted again. He was lucky last time with some decent players he inherited. They have all gone (Stuart Armstong, Che Adams, Bednarek, Walker Peters etc)

His tippy tappy possesion at all costs style got us into this position we are in now. The team failed to shake it off completely under WS.

We need a stong character to make the right choices ie : Keep Stevens out of the side (1 thing WS got right!), get a Stiker in January and get the players to get stuck in and press the ball.

“Hmm, well he knows how to get promoted from this league I suppose.”
I would totally disagree with that. He didn’t get Swansea promoted, he didn’t get MK Dons promoted. In fact he almost got MKD relegated and in two seasons at Swansea the highest they finished was 10th although he did break the British record of scoring a goal after a 56 pass move 🙄
I maintain the only reason he got us promoted was that Bazunu got injured
In the PL he was too arrogant and full of his own self importance to ditch a style of play that was guaranteeing defeat every game and he carried his 💩 managerial form on to Rangers
Any fans who want this clown back need their bumps feeling
If Sports Republic appoint him it just proves how clueless they are so I imagine he’s a shoe-in

Eddie Howe? I think he is gonna get the boot soon at Newcastle. Would he drop down to us and make a massive name for himself?

Infinitely doubtful that he would work for this lot or that they would consider employing somebody with his knowledge and experience.

I think if we appoint him or O’Neil with their Pompey connections as soon as they lost a game the crowd would turn against them and quite rightly so
