| Refwatch - Boston United v Rochdale on 10:53 - Nov 9 by tony_roch975 | Just watched highlights and he's not wrong about their chances - it could have finished 4-6; more significantly, we seemed to lose our shape and be vulnerable to 2nd crosses from corners? |
For me this comes about because of Jim's continued policy of having all 11 players inside the box to defend corners. Once cleared there seems to be a bit of a scattergun effect from the players with no one person able to stop the 2nd ball in, or worse still as we found out in the Cup, no one able to close down a shot.
| Refwatch - Boston United v Rochdale on 12:44 - Nov 9 with 2030 views | jonahwhereru | Well that was just what the team needed. The first half was an affirmation that they are a very good side. The second half required them to compete hard, and taught them that they need to regain the cohesiveness at the back. Also a striker that needed a goal got two. Couldn’t have had a better game before the York encounter. Saw the York highlights and they were very impressive, but we do have a great record away against the teams in the playoff places. With Dale getting that game under their belts yesterday, the game on Tuesday is all to play for. | | | |

We've conceded EIGHT goals in 15 league games and half of them were in two games.

I'm not debating the numbers or how well we are playing. just that phase of play in each game

Although we were the better team for 75% if the game, Boston actually had 4 or 5 really good chances. A couple caused by Ebanks slipping but thankfully wasted. Not the easiest place to go to but overall we fully deserved the win. However, a much better team would have punished us. In the national league, the lesser placed teams often squander good chances.

Saying what a 'better team' would have done in a different game is purely hypothetical. [Post edited 9 Nov 14:44]

| Refwatch - Boston United v Rochdale on 14:42 - Nov 9 with 1699 views | Edindale | As team our football is great and we create so many half chances without putting games to bed early doors. We need to be more clinical and capitalise on these to avoid nervous situations later on in games. Having said that if Dev had scored the penalty, I feel it would have been game over but the miss gave them greater impetus. They also rallied after our second goal to their credit. Certainly need to tighten up and make sure that EEL has his proper studs in for Tuesday as York will not be so generous if we make defensive mistakes. In fact everybody will need to be on their 'A' game to get a result and lets hope we have a good tactical plan. A relief that we can now win without Mani being on the scoresheet which gives us an additional threat now that Tyler is gaining his sharpness. I actually think that Hendo would also score plenty in this team given the amount of balls we roll across the penalty area. Onto York with some confidence and freshness. UTD. | | | |

Agreed we're playing very well but we all know getting out of this league is so difficult that we don't want to waste any % point of improving our chances of automatic promotion. According to my calculations, of the 10 goals we've conceded in league and FA Cup games this season 4 have been from 2nd balls after we've failed to clear crosses - so maybe it is worth a further look?

4 and 10 are hardly problematic figures! I'm sure the management team analyse all the goals we concede with toothcombs finer than any of us can ever manage, and are constantly looking for ways to improve those passages of play, if they perceive there to be issues. They seem to be doing a pretty good job so far. In fact, on points per game, they are doing better than anyone else! [Post edited 9 Nov 14:55]

Will need to tighten up at the back tomorrow York forwards look like they are hitting form. Should be a fantastic advert for National League football with 2 very good sides.
