It's not all down to the manager. The players we have brought in are not up to this level. the club spent a lot, but not wisely. I can't see any quality there, Galbraith apart who have come in and improved us

Galbraith is an excellent player,The danger is other teams have seen this also and maycome in for him in January and the way things are going you couldn’t blame him if he did want to leave , however he is happy here as it stands ,but coaching change is desperately needed

I think it comes down to if a coach the club want can be sourced at a sensible price.

People shouldn’t forget representation by the players too. Sheehan is very well liked, and the majority of players wouldn’t be happy I’m told if he left. We saw it work against Luke Williams I think on this occasion it would work the opposite way.

There’s no way in any initial thoughts on sacking him that at least a few senior players wouldn’t be consulted. Not necessarily on sacking him but to gauge their feelings on where they think this is all going and their supoort for him.

This is my opinion (and I take responsibility for my views!): Sheehan still hasn't figured out what his best team is. Three CBs and two wingbacks? I really like Casey starting, even at the expense of one of the two lumbering giants, if you go with 4 in the back. With Tymon out v. Bristol due to too many yellow cards, then it looks like Ishe may get the start at LB.

Who to play in midfield? Besides Galbraith, who does he trust, really trust? Stamenic, Franco, Widell, Eom, Yalcouye, on occasion have played well. But it's a guessing game on who's going to show up. A couple of the old guard in Cullen & Fulton? Some of these could play out wide along with Ronald, Inoussa, Benson, possibly Wales.

Vip will probably get the nod if he doesn't get hurt playing for Slovenia. It seems management really wants Idah to play at the expense of Vip sometimes, trying to get him up to speed. Maybe because of other clubs' possible interest in Vip for a possible sale in Jan?

A lot of these players are very young, and youthful, exuberant players will make mistakes. But it's the mistakes made recently by the veteran players like Burgess & Key, that's more concerning. I like Sheehan, like others on this board, and I think the players really like him as well. But that sometimes is the problem in that maybe he's trying to keep everyone happy.

Agree with this. Sheehan’s success began with sale of Grimes & the loan of O’Brien. Maybe, just maybe, the successful run was more to do with having the quality on the pitch in the middle of the park. A player who helped gel the midfield, who could win his battles and was capable of picking forward passes & building momentum.

The sale of Grimes and the loan of O’Brien took place before Williams left and Sheehan took over. So it's not really true that his success started then.

If I recall correctly he was quite happy to not push for the managers role after his first spell as caretaker.
After two spells he must have thought hey I can do this after all.
It's simply not working and he surely realises that now perhaps the club should offer him the opportunity to step down rather than be dismissed because it's highly unlikely that he will get a managers job elsewhere.

Without a doubt O'brien had a massive impact for us last season, whether we should have tried harder to sign him permanently is another story. But we have Galbraith this season who in my opinion will be a more successful footballer. The difference between last and this season is the tactics/style of play. Last season we went for games and tried to win matches, this season we are trying not to loose and when we go behind struggle to maintain the tempo needed to get a win. Go in front and we go defensive and try to hold what we have instead of putting sides to the sword. I believe Sheffield Wednesday and Crawley are the only games this season we have won by more than one goal.
