Corners 17:13 - Mar 15 with 1127 viewsloftboy

For as long as I can remember getting a corner was a waste of time, usually hit the first man or we’d try some stupid short ball routine and the ball would end up back with our keeper.
Finally with Madsen and now Vale we actually lose a threat. Very refreshing.

Back with our keeper either picking the ball out of our net or after some heroic last grasp tackle fron a sprinting QPR player thanks to our inept attempts at corners.
Vale has that curving technique required from the right and Madsen a bit of a floating technique from the left but could be much better if he curved it under the bar.
Declan Rice played with West Ham and never even attempted a corner with JWP there yet at Arsenal he is one of the best in the World with that inswinging technique so it can be learned and perfected .
Of course Arsenal have also destroyed the game with their very suspect anticts when its delivered pulling and dragging everybody dow to free up some player to head it home
Insane numbers like 17 or 18 goals scored from corners while we have 1 or 2 right

We were never going to be a threat with Ken Paal taking comers .
Rarely cleared the first man . Big improvement this year .

Obviously you have to a) take a decent corner and b) have someone head the thing in but I’d be wanting my Sunday league goalkeeper claiming it. The clown just stood there. Nice it happens to someone else for once.

Also helps having big Oliver Skipp marking our centre half.

For all his other skills Chair has never been great at taking corners either. Madsen and Vail are both way better.

I hope when both are back Madsen (and Vale ) is a bit more assertive and insists on taking them as Chair seems to think he’s the best at it when he really isn’t.

idderminster Harriers have utilized a high-risk, high-reward defensive corner routine by leaving five players forward. This tactic, aimed at disrupting opposition, creates instant counter-attacking threats upon winning the ball and has been successful in National League North action, leading to goals against Peterborough Sports and Alfreton.

Key Aspects of the Tactic:
High Positioning: Instead of packing the penalty area, five players remain in advanced positions when defending corner kicks, as discussed on this Instagram reel.
Counter-Attack Focus: The approach aims to force opposing teams to leave defenders back, reducing their attacking aerial presence and opening up quick break opportunities.
Disruption: Known as "corner chaos," this method aims to disrupt set-piece overloads, as discussed on this Facebook post.
Manager Feedback: Manager Adam Murray has indicated it is a calculated risk, stating, "Why not do it? You have to take a little bit of a risk," suggesting the tactic could potentially involve even more players in the future, as reported on this Facebook post.
