One of the best ever episodes of the podcast. Captures the feelings of almost everyone so well. One thing that does stand out is how monumental last week was as an event. The way people outside football, including people who aren’t even fans have been impacted by what happened.
Someone I work with was telling me how they were checking the score, how they’d celebrated and then minutes later felt so deflated. Their face as they told the tale was as if it was happening all over again was proof they’ll never forget that day.
“… and I don’t even like football”
In 119 years as a club, fans had never had the chance to even attend a game with so much on it. For it then to end as it did? For those who were there, we’ll reflect in years to come how privileged we were to witness something so special in the history of the game.
Of course, would still swap all that for Stones smashing that chance into the post/Sandy/Denehurst Park. |  |
