Yep agreed there's loads of continuity at York vs last season - on Saturday only Boyes and their loan keeper McNally weren't there last year, and they're currently without the injured Stones and Boateng plus no Fagan-Walcott so arguably less strong on paper than when in the NL.
Keen to see Smith, Middleton and Hayes getting regular starts soon. Keen to see Taylor in the 10 with Brown coming off the bench for Mani when he starts to tire. Keen to see Maguire and Beckwith settled in the back 4 alongside Tasker and Flint. Think our squad quality is more than good enough, not perfect by any means, but we've made it hard for ourselves so far and York are a good example of getting results by keeping it relatively simple.
Didn't get loads of attention with it being a matchday but those two deadline day signings look really impressive. Middleton and Smith operating on either wing is a mouthwatering prospect and as much as I enjoyed our time in the national league they're the kind of players we'd only see in a Dale shirt once back in the EFL. We're amassing some serious talent in our midfield and attacking positions when everyone's fit.
First day of September and Dan Moss has already done enough to secure my vote for player of the season. An absolute credit to himself and the calm dependability we need when very little seems to make sense at the moment.
I do like the look of that given what we have available if it's a 433, albeit feels we're still very much in fact finding mode and would love us to settle on some personnel and formation consistency soon. We are where we are though, decent looking 11 if it clicks.

Just gutted about Jenkins as suspect there's a fans favourite and a very important member of the dressing room there, hopefully we won't have to wait until next season to see it materialise.
I'm guessing the one key remaining starter position to fill is someone to play opposite wing to Cian. Can see that coming soon and if it's a good 'un think we'll be pretty much ready to go, with a back up keeper and maybe cover for Mani to add as bench depth. Squad of around 20 to start with feels about right with lots of them able to play more than one position.

Little teaser post on the club's social media of green shoots (or maybe I'm reading too much into that) - I feel pretty much the same about Watson as I did when Whatmuff signed. Maybe a bit of risk but more than offset by the potential very high ceiling. If MRKT continue to be behind much of our recent recruitment they're becoming some asset.
I remember this question from the fans forum a few months back (25:28 in) - didn't want to be critical of George at the time by making a thing of it as I like him, but equally his answer whilst admirably honest didn't sit great with me in terms of doing the right thing.
That said, I've had loads of chats the last few weeks with York fans who feel had they been promoted 12 months ago it could have been a year too soon. 2 up does seem to give clubs time to fully look themselves in the mirror and rebuild so when they finally get their opportunity they don't bounce straight back down. Bit of a fence sit but I can see both sides.

Yesterday we showed we're fully together again and as wide awake as we've been in all the time I've been supporting this magnificent club. KG signing his contract would be the cherry on the top. We had a glimpse last Saturday of what Project 5k could look like - so many women, families, young people in the crowd you don't always see. Future of the club looks bright and so does the future in general with people like Nieve and Owain doing what they do and being so authentic, vulnerable and down to earth.
Agreed. I think Jim's been excellent this last couple of weeks. It's a moment in time where we're all exposing our raw authentic selves rather than any performative personas, and the traits and glimpses he's shared with us across his last few interviews make me feel very confident in what season 26-27 is going to look like, regardless of what division we're in. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Couple of cracking post-match interviews from the manager and KG. Jim reading the room and getting the tone spot on sending lots of little messages in a composed selfless manner when the adrenaline must be flying. He's Rochdale values through and through with just the right amount of ego and edge. Becoming an excellent manager.
I'm surrounded by York fans over here, they're a decent fanbase to be fair. That said I wear my centenary shirt to the Knavesmire parkrun most Saturday mornings and have started to get a few comments so we're definitely in their heads. They're also just as glass half empty as us after years of disappointment and have Oldham still very much in the front of their minds.
No reason why we shouldn't be backing ourselves, their last minute heroics look like momentum builders but they'll also be creating a build up of stress and cortisol to the players and fans nervous systems whereas we're doing it with a bit more calmness and come April we have to hope that'll start to see their dam walls break.
Really happy for Dan Moss. His first interview during preseason hinted at him being just the kind of personality that belongs at our club and current changing room culture, it's great to see one of life's good guys getting his moment in the spotlight after being so patient.

Love a bit of existential chat about what it means to be a Daley and have Rochdale in our blood. Backing ourselves and glass half full vs humility and self deprecation. Feels there's a bit more going on at the mo' than just a football team playing well, and for me it's a welcome challenge to my subconscious!
Also fab to hear the KG love-in. Right back (if we can call him that) is the one position that's not completely locked in with my all time Dale XI and Gordon's fast making a case for usurping Raff in that #2 shirt.
