Is the absolute frenzied and sustained attack on Southampton FC by the press and media in general, stirred up by a club whose form over the second half of the season and performance in the two semi finals do not deserve a shot at the PL.
You’d have thought we’d done something serious instead of a very amateurish and bungled attempt to spy on a training session. The only thing we did wrong apart from getting caught was the timing of the spying. There are more and more people saying the punishment is completely disproportionate and they’re right.
In reality and as results will confirm, we got absolutely no advantage whatsoever, and you wouldn’t expect us to.
I’ve heard people say our run of form under Tonda was due to spying which is utter BS. We earned our victories on the pitch, lead by in my opinion our best manager since Koeman.
What I can’t understand is the fan backlash on this site against Tonda. Okay he was wrong but let’s face facts, if the EFL were being fair and equitable no-one would be saying a word against him
I say whatever happens, f*ck it. Tonda is still a brilliant young manager as the players will confirm and he’s our best chance of promotion next season if we don’t go up.

From a neutral perspective, I think the frenzy both media and across is due to the ridiculous, avoidable way it happened. The whole saga is bizarre.
Saints have a got a good squad for this level, more than capable of getting into the play offs and possibly would have got automatic promotion had the league been two more games.
Clearly they had a grass in the camp and Middlesbrough have blown it out of proportion but it’s still something we’ve never seen before (not to this extent).
As usual it’s the fans who will get shafted, I know loads of you travel all over the country, getting up at stupid times on Saturdays, taking time off for midweek games, costs a fortune in time and money, and it’s disgusting. |  | | |

It’s a tough one. Had it been during the season a fine and a possibly points deduction maybe. The timing of getting caught (and with Boro all over it) has forced the expulsion. A fine would be meaningless with Saints possibly getting the PL jackpot, a points deduction would need PL approval as having it suspended until if and when they are back in the Championship (and they could’ve been years or never). So the expulsion is probably the quickest and easiest punishment.
