Bowie guitarists 20:14 - Jul 11 with 2122 viewsSimonD

I'm thoroughly enjoying watching a recording of Bowie on his Reality tour with Earl Slick laying waste to many of Bowie's staple songs. While I know that and understand why, many would rate Mick Ronson as the greatest of Bowie's guitarists, (and without doubt his influence in the early days was massively important) he plays it too safe for me. Until recently Earl Slick would have got my vote as the ultimate Bowie guitarist but then I obtained a recording of Bowie at Milton Keynes. Adrian Belew! Wow, just wow! No one owns Station to Station, Stay and White Light White Heat like he does.

As a slight aside, for any Bowie lovers out there, can I recommend they go to the Lightroom in Coals Drop Yard Kings Cross to watch "You’re Not Alone"; its great.

Was lucky enough to see Bowie in Brisbane on the Reality tour. My brother is a member of the Bowie fan club so we had great seats about 4 rows from the stage. He bounced around like a teenager and had some great banter with the crowd. Did a huge encore which included a 10 minute version of Heroes with Earl Slick on guitar. Awesome! RIP DB 🥲
