I may upset some posters, but I believe that we should maximum the rules on squad numbers, i.e. 22 outfield players aged over 22 and any number under 21, because when the transfer window closes on the 1st September we cannot sign anyone until January. So the idea of selling players is questionable, in that when you take injuries, suspensions and the loss of form into consideration, we need to be able rotate players. Yes, if we get an offer, which we cannot afford to turn down, I can understand selling someone. I cannot understand what is going on with Edwards.
The game last night was about getting fit, but even so, I am, like concerned, like many others, about the recruitment process, are we still using MKRT or not, to identify players. In that other teams have identified players and signed them, We used MKRT to identify Hayes and Maquire, but that is it. I still believe we need a right back, left back, a CD, winger, at least one striker, plus some young players, like Nevett or some in on loan from teams higher up for the reasons mentioned. Yes we have weeks to sign players, but we need to start on the front foot, with games against Tranmere, Newport and Crawley coming up, winning these games, will build confidence. |
Did we use MKRT to identify Hayes and Maguire ? Hayes was already known to us from his loan spell and Maguire played under Watson at MK Dons. Doesn't seem like great VFM if it's only recommending players we already know.
I can understand its uses but there are obvious limitations. If a player's being played out of position or is out of the side because of a fall out with the manager how useful is MKRT's analysis then ? Difficult to imagine MKRT would have recommended Alan Reeves or Chris O' Grady. |  | | |

One key feature of MKRT is a scouting system that ranks players. You put in the parameters and it gives you a list of players who meet that criteria with breakdowns of attributes presented in a web style diagram. Whether a team actually signs a player from the list will depend on a number of factors such as availability, wages etc. The system cannot measure intangibles such as desire, personal fit within the squad etc. It does the donkey work of scouting and ranking for the club and if you wanted a right back aged 18-22 who is quick and over 6 foot you could see a massive list of players to choose from in rank order.
It does not recommended players per se, it provides a list in rank order of players who match specific criteria. The rest is up to the club. O'Grady would have been somewhere on a list if they were searching for a left footed target man. [Post edited 15 Jul 19:30]
