they have sold some players for decent money so not as skint as us , we will know more if edwards suddenly is absent for the friendlies this weekend due to some unknown virus he picked up this week i suppose , ifs he absent then hes likely to be on his way in the coming weeks |  |

Got to say i agree. But his biggest problem in these days of huge physical specimens is, imho, his height and size. He’s always going to lose loads of headers against people taller and stronger. He’ll be good for us but I reckon those limit his upside |

To make serious money on players such as Brentford and Brighton have reflects their relevant positions at the point in time the sales were made i.e. Brentford were powering ahead in the Championship under Thomas Frank, making astute purchases and then selling them on at a great profit. Brighton had tripped the light fantastic got themselves out of the Championship playing exciting football and invested in great assets from abroad, once they were established in Prem they could and have commanded serious money from Chelski in particular. Now we had Eze and yes made a very good profit from him, but he was a once in a generation player at QPR that had for various reasons slipped through the net before we gave him a chance. My point is that for us to really make serious money on our assets requires us to be at that place where we are noticed i.e. pushing for the new top 8 and be consistent in that, even if we don't go up for a couple of more seasons. Our problem has since coming down has been our consistent inconsistency to really trouble the play offs regularly or even the top half of the Championship. [Post edited 28 Jul 16:39]

I see your point but don't completely agree.
If you look at Eze's last season with us (2019/20) we finished 13th and Reading finished 14th, but that didn't stop Eze and Olise going on to much bigger and better things.
It's probably not coincidence that they both moved to Palace who have had a knack of hoovering up the brightest and best from midtable Championship clubs in recent years.
Finishing in the playoffs might be the best shop window for ambitious young Championship players but there will always be clubs happy to look a bit further down the table for good young players. [Post edited 28 Jul 16:57]

They lost over £28m last season and there turnover has just been halved following relegation. More sales have to be made to cover costs. |  | | |
