First time I've gone to the first away of the season for quite a while - very glad I did.
Great result and great atmosphere in the away end but my God was it hot in there at least for the first half.
After they scored it really did feel like deja vu but fair play to the team to turn it around like they did. Although we didn't score in the 2nd half, I thought we played some good stuff and Kamara really looks quality. Think that could turn out to be a great signing and the Kamara song - absolutely brilliant :)
Lots to enjoy but Pompey weren't all that and Vale is no central midfielder! Thought Ronnie did quite well in there and good to see JCS do the full 90.
Shame about Kemper's injury - hope it's not too bad. Adamson did well when he camo on I thought. Paul Smyth also gave it 100% as usual - great to have him as an option off the bench.

Mbengue & Poku were linking up so well on the right in the first half. Think Mbengue is much improved from last season. Also Chair looks back to full fitness again and we are scoring goals carrying on from pre-season. Chair in that 10 role is flourishing again. Kamara looks like a great loan signing and we have a Keeper with a lot of confidence. Hope Lloyd gets a goal especially at home as think that will boost his confidence big time, he looks a handfull when he comes on as sub. Well done Rangers 3 points in the bag before September we are on the up. |  | | |

Just home myself.
Was in the back row, right in the middle of all the boys constantly singing.
First of all, whoever designed the walkway and gantry at the back of the terraces with all the cafe kiosks and bars needs to be shot. Was there on boxing day and forgot how difficult and time consuming it is to actually get into the stadium itself Was unbelievably sticky but the loudness of the fans throughout was impressive.
When I saw the team sheet thought the formation was 5-0- 5
But the team were excellent. A real handful going forwards and pretty solid at the back too. Good to see the increased strength in depth coming on in the second half to shore things up. Definitely a perfect away day performance.And we did a number on them.
Pompey I feel will struggle but you can only play as well as you can against the opposition in front of you and the game plan worked.
A very encouraging start to the season and cant understand reading back this matchday thread how seriously.negative some of our fans can be No pleasing some, I guess.
Great start to the season and shows the flexibility of a few of our players too. It means nothing if we lose at home to Bolton, but an enjoyable if rather sticky experience. Nice to actually.start off with a decent performance,.that hopefully we can build on and hopefully also its given a few of our players much more confidence.going forward also.

I must admit that when I saw the team and the all black kit,I was expecting the worst.My feelings weren’t helped by our performance in the first 25 minutes,but we virtually controlled the game after that.Our 3 goals must’ve been some of the flukiest we’ve ever scored,but who cares.
I met a Pompey st holder on the 6.58 train,and he travels down from Norwich for every home game.I never saw him on the train home though.
A great away day,only ruined by the problem getting served in the good companion before the game.
Next away game at Blackburn means I have to leave even earlier at 06.11.I hope that will be as good as yesterday. |  | | |
