That was in October 2018, they have prospered since then winning the FA Cup and 4 straight top 10 finishes including two european qualifying positions in 5th before relegation with us in 2023.
So his death didn't have much affect really

As explained in the above video their owner lost much of his cash cow duty free business due to Covid stopping much of the world's air traffic. Their huge captive market never returned in anything like the same numbers. Add in the absolute fortune spent on their training facility, letting high value players contracts run down and excessive wage bill and it's a miracle they are even able to continue operating as a football club.

Also interesting to note that last year the family of the owner of the club that died in the helicopter crash launched a £2.15billion lawsuit in the High Court against the manufacturers of the helicopter. The lawsuit is still ongoing, and probably will be for years to come. The response from the helicopter manufacturer was reported by Reuters - see the link below. Lots of other articles online about the lawsuit if you Google it.
