Seems to be not a thing anymore! Delap just took one that was a foul throw on at least 3 aspects.
Our own Mbengue always releases the ball in front of his head as do most players these days, as an ex ref this is really bugging me.

I have mentioned this before as have others but it really is a matter of what the referee wants his assistants to flag for and more often than not referees solely want the assistant to flag for offside and goal kick/ corners, the referee deciding on everything else EVEN which way the throw ins go!
Time and again we see 'lino' next to where the ball goes out of play and NOT flagging but waiting until the ref signals and THEN they flag!
It is the same with bad tackles and fouls right in front of the 'assistant' and no flag is raised to alert the referee !
This is a madness and yet we see it all the time !
The touch judge/ line judge in rugby is a TRUE assistant but in our modern game they have been relegated to simply looking for offsides!
Hence, if the referee doesn't see the foul throw , the lino won't flag!

From what I saw he didn’t have both feet on the floor either.
The other thing that grinds my gears is this throw in count down.
Thought it’s supposed to be when the ball is in hands but refs seem to wait, decide they need to jump in, and THEN start counting
| Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal |

They’ve all but disappeared. Ben Orange was as bad as anyone for it today.. For the Delap one which created the break, Konsa was desperately trying to obstruct it from being taken to the point it was probably impossible to take a legal throw-in. Quite impressed that Arteta has found a player to make them even more unlikeable.
