| Swans Scores this Season 13:38 - Nov 1 with 1396 views | Martyn | If we lose VIP where are the goals going to come from. We're screwed if he leaves. No worries - 9 different scores in just 13 games this season. Big Ben should be in the list too but c'est la vie VIP 2 Opokhu 3 Idah 4 Eom 2 Ronald 2 Yeo 3 Eustaquio 2 Lissah Stewart | | | | |
| Swans Scores this Season on 13:46 - Nov 1 with 1360 views | Dr_Winston | This is more like what we need. If Vipi, Idah and Stewart can eventually all get into double figures, another three or four players coming close would be a huge improvement and give us a bloody good shout of the playoffs. Interestingly, Vipi is only two goals shy of Idah despite playing four hours less football, and most of that off the bench. | |

My opinion, Vipotnik would score more than either of the others given equal game time, but we’d score more as a team with Idah or Stewart on the pitch. As much as Fulton is a beneficiary of the way Matos has us playing this season, Vipotnik is a victim of it.

Would be interesting to know how Vipotnik's minutes to goal ratio compared to playing under Matos this season to Sheehan and Matos last season or even Sheehan's successful stint after Williams. Would we find his ratio minutes to goals would be better because we were getting the ball forward more often when we get the ball moving quicker?

Idah is a goal every 167 minutes this season, which has gone down from last season's 6 goals in 849 minutes, or 141 minutes. This may contradict getting the ball forward more often or quicker as we are spreading the goals around a lot more. Vipi was every 128 minutes last season, but I don't know this season.

Maybe a better gauge would be goals scored across the team.but then maybe you have to look at goals conceded per minute. And then decide all that matters is points per minute. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yes, it’s effectively just are we a better team with Vipotnik, Idah or Stewart up front. Who actually scores the goals is irrelevant.

I don't really mind which one of those starts as they all have positives, as long as its only one of them. Saturday showed that 2 up front is not right for us and detracts from the overall team performance.

The way we play is better suited to Idah and Stewart. Vipotnik is the best about at what he does, but Matos wants his strikers drifting wide and creating gaps for teammates to exploit. If we want a striker to run the central channel and try to feed him on the edge of the box, the other two don’t get near him. I’m surprised he didn’t go in the summer, he must have had offers from bigger clubs.

With Vipotnik I think we were playing hardball with the price, with hindsight possibly a mistake. If Stewart gets injured again it wasn't, fine margins. But will Woodward and Wales develop with 3 in front of them, although on loan Wales is out injured for 3 months.

If Stewart isn't injured, then Vip will probably be sold in Jan. Can't he be told or train to drift wide?

"If we want a striker to run the central channel and try to feed him on the edge of the box, the other two don’t get near him" It depends on what Idah or Stewart are asked to do surely, but for their allround game Stewart and Idah in that order are better for me, not sure Vip can do that, whereas Stewart and maybe Idah can or could play the front and centre role.

Don’t get me wrong, they could both do it. They just wouldn’t be smashing goals in from all angles on both feet like Vipotnik was last season. The way Matos plays though, albeit with limited evidence on Stewart, seems to suit both him and Idah better. Harsh on Vipotnik, but no Swans fan should be disappointed in how we are playing.
| Swans Scores this Season on 11:53 - Nov 3 with 60 views | JJJack | Idah was underrated last season despite having a very good scoring record when he played. Getting more love this year and has played well consistently. Vip is a way off his form last year. Trying too hard to score on Saturday again - just shooting from anywhere and needs to relax and play more like he did last season. Stewart - too early to say. I thought he was great when he came on at Millwall, struggled a bit with the ball on Saturday....but was very effective in his pressing and always looked likely to score. He'll improve with game time. | | | |
