Is that the one with the old guy, the bald guy and a younger idiot guy?

I've seen a few eps. Not bad. The missus loves that shit though for some reason.

I like Storage Wars on the same channel. Brandi Passante can bid for me anytime!

I like Fast & Loud.
Gas Monkey Garage, plus crazy Southern facial hair.

Also, Counting Cars with Danny The Count from Pawn Stars in his own programme.
He seems a really cool dude.

It's not what you've got; it's where you stick it.

Watch Pawn Stars when there is nothing else on. Completely staged off course but still interesting seeing some of the things on there.

Used to watch Storage Wars quite a bit but not seen it in a while. Suffice to say, also fake.

Used to love Storage wars (love as in watch it when it was on) but since Clive burst my bubble about completely staging it I have gone right off it....

Re: Storage Wars, extras 'bid' alongside the 'stars' and producers have access to all the lockers - Dave Hester sued the production company not long ago and lifted the lid so to speak.

Re: Pawn Stars - if you google it you will find lots of stories about people being asked if they want to be on tv 'selling' items given to them. Most of the big money items are owned by the 'experts' brought in to rate them.

Not long ago they had a guitar belonging to Mary Ford and built by Les Paul. They 'bought' it for $90,000 and had it on eBay for $250,000 buy it now.

Still actually on eBay a year later infact: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Les-Pauls-wife-Mary-Fords-1961-Gibson-Les-Paul-Custom-Gu

Anyway, the 'seller' on Pawn Stars posted on a guitar forum that they had actually consigned it to a guitar shop in Vegas who were the called in as 'experts' on Pawn Stars.

I think the new episodes are season4, season 6 is on in the states, I download the torrents.

The chumlee bits are funny, like when he got bob Dylan to sign his album.

More fool the people taking stuff there, they should do research beforehand Allthough several times rick has given them more money if they undervalue their item

Well that's a bubble burst, assume Hardcore Pawn on Bio is similarly staged as that one is 100 times more unbelievable than Pawn stars

There's some weird shït on those stations, saw one yesterday which was a documentary series about fish tank builder/installers! Interesting if somewhat random.

River Monsters on ITV4 is my guilty pleasure. There's something very creepy about carnivorous fish and the host has the mad intensity of a serial killer himself. There was one about a Brazil-nut-eating fish that had been transplanted from the Amazon to New Guinea, and you can guess what it was snapping up in the absence of nuts. It had teeth like a Rottweiler.

I quite liked Ice Pilots which I think has just finished, seemed to have a lot of realism in the programmes and not your usual run of the mill nonsense.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Just written a three page feature on all these sorts of shows for our next mag at work, talking to the producers about just how faked they are. I'll post it up once it's on general release but for a start Thom Beers, the guy who makes Storage Wars, said...

“I remember four years ago we shot one extra element for Deadliest Catch: a guy running through some crab pots to get to the edge of the boat because a guy had gone overboard. It was real, everything happened, but there was one transition shot, nothing more than that, and I remember the discussions. We actually cut it out because we thought ‘this isn’t real and this show is authentic.’

“Fast-forward four years and I don’t know what’s real and what’s not real any more. We as producers always focused on pushing forward the story but at this point it’s push the story forward and get it done by eight o’clock. There is a lot of pressure to get results very quickly and the line is blurred.”

Essentially he says the broadcasters aren't going to give them money to follow these guys around opening garages up indefinitely so there is a little bit of manipulation goes on where stuff found in lock ups elsewhere when the cameras weren't present might be moved into one when they are filming.

But then as one of the other producers said "if you really believe they found Napoleon's sword in a lock up garage in Simmi Valley you deserve everything that comes your way."

As in the Huffington Post link above, they have receipts for rent of items by the production company from the 'stars' of the show. It's easy to pay $1k for a unit when you know it has your $5k item in it that you are already being paid a rental fee on, plus an appearance fee per episode.
