Quick question (help needed) 20:25 - Oct 20 with 3924 viewsbaroniser

Is there something going on in York the weekend we play there?
I've been looking at hotels to spend a few days there but all are either sold out or triple the normal price.

Isn't York a rip off every weekend?

York Christmas Market is on that weekend. I struggled to find rooms and think I got the last two reasonably priced central ones.

Tourist info suggested a call to them on the 28th Nov and they'll let you know about any last minute availability. Good luck!

I think there is some sort of christmas festival thing (not just the xmas market), it might be connected with turning on the lights or a festival of lights. In other words its an event to rip off tourists.

Talking of which, roccy was considering an overnighter with Mrs roccy that weekend.

Maybe Kiss are switching on the lights!

It is St. Nicholas Fayre , which is the start of the xmas festivities in York. The city is always hammered with people staying for the weekend. I have stayed once during this period and struggled to get into any restaurants or pubs , even carparks are hammered. I booked my hotel room as soon as the fixtures were released , and in future I would advise any fan to do the same

I would've booked it sooner but I've only just managed to get the date off work.
If push comes to shove I'll have to book a bit further afield.

Cheers for the info folks.

Whilst we're on the subject of York, are any of the North East Daleys heading down, and if so can I cadge a lift?

Thought I'd ask now before the train prices go astronomical.

Tangled up in blue.

I know York fairly well.
If you are driving go to McArthur Glen out of town shopping mall.
It is lcated at the A64 / A19 junction.
There you can park as long as you like for free.
Take the wife and she will spend your hard-earned shopping whilst you enjoy the match.
Catch the Park & Ride Bus into York centre.
You can walk to the ground from there with a reasonable street guide.
Catch the bus back to the Park & Ride (make sure it's the same one that you left your car on - there are about 3 such P & R's)
The only cost is your 50p bus fare each way.
And it's only 1hr 15mins from Rochdale on the M62/M1(North)/A64.
It's much easier that way.

Just cos its so close to Christmas. The place is rammed at the best of times so prices go silly.
You can sleep in my garage if you want. I have a matress, a darts board and some pot in there so i will charge you £50 for x2 nights. Its a good rate.

Is that pot to piss in then, or what?

(You'll need to provide one of those as well)
