just had an op for a minor hernia, not anywhere near as uncomfortable as i'd expected.

BUT...

i do now posess the worst chop job Brazilian 'haircut' in the nether regions

looks an even sorrier state than usual and the onset of a shaving rash is starting to give me grief. still need to address the fact that they've taken offf about 70% of the short and curlies, so a question for the masses......

do i

a) take the rest of and go for the overweight, under developed porn star look and let it grow back evenly

or

b) try and fashion some form of combover until the rest has made an attempt at regrowth.

in relation to both, being a non female (ie, i have/had full growth) how the fukk long will this take to return to normal??

Had a couple of those in the last 10 years, started as a dull ache in the happy sacks, first time was an over night job with key hole surgery under general anesthetic back in the mid 90's.

The second was a day patient thing two years ago, technology has advanced. Just numbed my groin and went in there with a couple of needles and a camera. Was done in what seemed like 30 Minutes.

Don't take long to grow back to full forest mode but you'll endure excruciating itching where people will suspect you've caught something untoward.

the most surprising bit was when in post op I neede a scratch and discovered my lack of plummage and came out with a handful of shaved pubes and a surgical glove! no brushing away of the trimmings on the NHS....

just hope the other glove isn't inside

What kind of hernia was it?

Just interested cos i've just been booked in to have one done myself. Heard some horror stories of people having excrutiating pain afterwards etc, but i'm sure that's just the 0.1% minority.

Did they do it keyhole or open?

being a kind soul and not wanting to scare you i'll not over dramatise this; it's been a piece of piss so far tbh.

the hernia itself was quite minor and of the inguinal (sp) variety. was brought on through sports rather than being a fat bstard and the doctor didn't even pick it up but the physio did; she referred to it as a 'gilmore groin' which is the tear/hernia attributed to lots of football, rugby and hockey injuries. basically where the pipework from nad to knob goes through the muscle wall it creates a tear. this caused a small hernia to also develop.

mine was done by keyhole (as far as i'm aware)

got to Swindon at 8am; knocked out by 8.30 ish and woken up with a cup of tea at 9.45am. was advised of all the potential risks (lost bollox, nerves cut, excrutiating pain, etc) but so far feel a bit of a fraud sat here doing f'all. (guarantee i'll be in agony when the meds wear off now!)

If it makes your old chap look bigger, keep it all off. The missus might prefer it too? To the OP, take it all off, do your balls and your slip way too, veet works wonders, just don't leave it on too long.

I had a hernia operation in the 90's and it was ruff, to "expel" the general anesthetic you have to cough it out which wasn't pleasant.

Slight digression but a few years ago a mate (not me honest) had 'the snip'.

Couple years later he divorced and met a younger woman who wanted to have kids. So three weeks before his second marriage he decides to have the snip reversed. According to the hospital it all went well, but he was in tears with pain even to the extent the wedding was ruined as his movement was restricted.

Couple of days after the wedding he returned to hospital and they did an x-ray, decided to open him up again and found that they'd left a cotton swab in his ball bag.

Worse part was, the reversal didn't work either.

crikey, that sounds about one step up from using leeches!

todger looks a bit like a bit of left over plucked chicken at the moment so i'm not sure Veet is the answer (and i have read the reviews )

I think they were using the one that is not recommended for the genital area - that can be brutal - but there is one specifically for that area, shouldn't rot your nads off. From a female perspective, I'm sure we prefer the hairy version but then I'm from a time when it was normal to have pubes - seems to have gone out of fashion.

Now if you want real pain try epilation

I know two people who've had a hernia operation - my dad and a Fulham supporter I know - dad was ok but the other chap had a terrible time of it - they sent him away in pain and with a man bag attachment and some wipes over Christmas and the new year as they couldn't be bothered to resolve the cock-up - so might just be the luck of the draw - does that help

If you have a steady hand use a cut throat razor and some soap. Think of it as an extreme sport ala base jumping.

A 'friend of mine' had to have a haemarrhoid (sp?) op. The male nurse, a Scot, was having trouble because the patient wouldn't unclench.

"Look, I'm jus' tryin' to do ma job," he said, "it ain't no f*ckin' party for me, either, pal!"

just thinking that the next obstacle to get over is having a dump!

i suspect that might cause me a bit of grief, usually regular as clockwork but in no rush to perform that particular act as i think it's going to bring a tear to my eye

wife has those pills that 'softens' issues so popping a few of those to help ease matters
