1st away day at Stoke next week, is there a designated away fan pub near the stadium?

In a word "no". I believe the police point away supporters in the direction of The Terrace which is on Leek Road about half a mile from the train station are at least they used to. I think you can catch a football bus to the ground and back from there. Other than that there is a harvester pub across from the ground but I'm not sure how "friendly" it is. I'd avoid anywhere in Stoke town .

Went to that Harvester before a meek Premier League defeat and it was fine. It’s a pretty tragic city at the best of times.

ON arrival in the city don't forget to turn your clock back by 50 years.

We used to go in The Terrace back in the Premier League days and it was alright. Few decent beers in glasses, sport on TV, bit of food, newly done up, not bad.

Went there last year. My fcking God. Looked like one of the sets they used in Chernobyl. All of the worst beers, in all of the flimsiest plastic glasses. Police vans lined up outside, shovelling all the people they know and want to keep and eye on into the pub. Filthy. Absolutely stank. Such a shame.

take it from me, the worst away match to be nicked at and kept over night in a cell with no money and only a train ticket for the previous day in your pocket. a bloody long hitch hike home{1976 dave webb nicked us a 1-0 away win and then we cocked it up at norwich] and then have to go back up 2 weeks later to face the consequences

I'd like to say we'd planned it, but no, pure accident. We went up there in the 70's and found ourselves in an area called Burslem, where we wandered into a pub that may have been called the Red Lion. Little wary due to Stoke's rep, we were delighted to discover this was a Port Vale boozer and they fcking hated Stoke...drinks all round.

Poll: Thank God The Seaons Over.

Not a fan of The Terrace. Last time I went, we went in the Glebe. Really nice old pub, run by the Joules Brewery. Some really nice beers and a cracking Pork pie. That said, there were only three of us, we weren't wearing colours and we have no history with Stoke. It was a mission getting away from the escort once we got off the train - we had to be persistent,

Fulham FC: It's the taking part that counts

Not the place to get a beer is Stoke but recently we have just gone straight to the hotel opposite the station which has quite a large bar at the back of the building and the staff are always fine with us popping in

Handy as well to get a taxi to the ground
