Only just been made aware of this. Thought I'd give it a try tonight and just managed to last 1:30 so I'm happy with that. Well I was until I read that the world record is 4 hours and 28 minutes! You'd think Sting would have better things to do with his time.
Anybody else planking? Any tips on how to last longer?!
Try doing the side plank too, and when you've mastered that then try assuming the position and lifting one leg and holding it (front plank and both sides).
Then, instead of having your forarms parrallel, try having them crossed. A minute of front and each side is plenty as a mini circuit while doing other things.
2 minutes is about the best I have done. After 30 seconds you think, blimey, this is easy, then about 45 seconds in it really starts to hurt. By 2 minutes you are crying.
This is the exercise btw, not the sexual position. I can do about 90 seconds of that before I start to cry.
I think it will be good for my back in particular.
Be mindful if you have a bad back and be sure to do other exercises like using the rowing machines and resistance bands. Stretch well before and after!
Way back when in the school holidays I'd plank for hours in my bedroom. Just me and a Freeman's catalogue. We are talking rhyming slang here aren't we?
