The year that was - Preview on 16:35 - Dec 29 with 1967 views | PinnerPaul | Pretty fair summary, and when you lay out the options as you have , you can see that it is hard to justify any major signings in Jan, so Cook would indeed be a bonus. Andy Davies confirmed on the offy now btw.
The year that was - Preview on 16:41 - Dec 29 with 1952 views | Antti_Heinola | Good preview. I was thinking about signings the other day and came to a similar conclusion. I might want a *different* striker, or another wing back, but we're well covered in both areas (in theory). Cook and maybe a loan could happen I guess. If Cook's coming because Dickie is about to go, that would free funds I suppose for maybe one or two more?

Can't really see a serious offer for Dickie in Jan myself, but who knows?!

A "different" striker? They seemingly don't much like Wells from the Interview. How about Wells on loan for the rest of the season? Budget is going to be the key for signings and we really can't have too much left.

The year that was - Preview on 22:48 - Dec 29 with 1487 views | Myke | Great preview Clive - it has been one hell of a year. If we can replicate anything close to the second half of last season, we will be comfortable play-off contenders at least. One thing we learned about your interview with the head of recruitment is that we will have identified and potential signings/loans some time ago. Cook would be a great addition, we could also do with someone with pace to run at defences - wait and see | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Cant see anything re Cook on offy? Clive's preview great as always, puts everything into perspective. Tricky speedy wingers do cause us and most teams problems as Albert has shown on occasions however many teams envy Illy & Willy so we have them in our looker. Not feeling overly confident about today but then that's in my DNA for away games. If our players can perform then we are a match for any team. Amazing how a win can lift spirits Happy New Year to all

The year that was - Preview on 16:11 - Dec 30 with 927 views | derbyhoop | Like every other club, we have our share of mouth breathers who insist on going for that striker who will guarantee 20+ goals perseason and ensure we get promoted into the PL gravy train. I wouldn't trust them to run a bath let alone a multi million turnover football club. A salutary reminder that we are already reliant on owners putting in £1m per month. Other than Cook, whose wages would stretch the budget to the limit, I cannot see how anybody could justify any permanant incomings. But for 2 hours tonight we can argue about a game of football instead of questionable financing.
