IIRC, not only were Wigan pressing for a late winner but they were shithousering too and it backfired when they lost possession on the flank deep in our end and did all the arm-waving claiming a foul or 'injured' player (can't remember which but they wanted the game stopped and therefore prevent our counter-attack) and we went straight down the other end and scored the winner. No wonder Jewel was fuming with his team.

Paul Furlong.....one of my favourite QPR players.

I will never forget a Friday evening(??) game when Cardiff(??) gave us a 'pasting' and Furlong took some bad abuse because of his Chelsea links and I walked along SAR with him after the match after a few beers in the bar. He spoke so well despite loosing 4-0(??) and getting abuse during the game. Top bloke and as much a Ranger as a Chelsea boy.

I think that was the Earnshaw hat-trick game. We got royally tonked and Furlong did not deserve the grief he got. He had nothing to prove to the fans, it was the fans unfairly singling him out.

It was good though when Chelsea wheeled him out at half time at Stamford bridge and the plastic home fans had no idea who he was and he got more of a reception from us!
