The World Cup 10:01 - Dec 3 with 1047 viewswelwynranger

Is the gift that keeps on giving.
Anyone can beat anyone.
98th minute winning goals changing the group.
Dodgy VAR decisions.
Penalty misses.
Managers getting sent off.
Whole teams, benches and coaches surrounding the ref
First time all officials have been women.
Germany scoring 4 and still going home.
Belgium seeded 2 in the world going home.
The Africans playing like it's basket ball.
The first ever world cup in which no team has stayed unbeaten in the group stage
I've loved it from the first kick to now.
Can't wait to see what happens this week

I'm pretty sure England, Dutch, Croatia, Morocco, and the USA avoided defeat in the group stages.

Taking all the issues of Qatar hosting the World Cup aside, it has been a great watch so far. Possibly one of the benefits of this being held mid season is the players are fit and most likely in peak condition, rather than in Summer at the end of a long season and too much preperation and distraction.

The whole round of last group games have been great, loads of jeopardy and drama which reminds us how cak it is that WC2026 moves to groups of 3 which reduces all that tension. Rubbish idea

Out of interest, how many countries will compete in 2026? If the three hosts get places, it'll be a squeeze on the rest of us to qualify.

I think it's 48 teams that qualify, but I hadn't realised that it will be groups of three.

I assume that would be 16 groups with 2 qualifying to a round of 32? Or would it just be 1 qualifying to the last 16?
