A great first time achievement no question,but Truro's promotion was hailed as a great achievement a year ago and look what happened to them.
Like Truro, Worthing face two main issues.
Firstly, the National League is mainly populated by ex-football league clubs all of them full-time and all with larger capacities than Worthing's 3000-4000.
The other drawback is one that the Truro manager,John Askey, often referred to and that is the travelling involved.
Granted Worthing is not as isolated as Truro but from travelling to away games located in the south Worthing will definitely be making the following next season.
All round trips mileage approx..
BARROW..700, GATESHEAD 680, HARTLEPOOL 650, AFC FYLDE 600 , FC HALIFAX 550,ALTRINCHAM 500.
Depending on the National League and National League North play-offs, trips to
CARLISLE (720) ROCHDALE (570) SCARBOROUGH (600) CHESTER (530) MACCLESFIELD (500) could also be on the cards.
I really hope Worthing do well next season and are not 2026-2027's Truro City.
But the travelling to quite a few away games-by road not air-is likely to be an issue as it was for Truro.
Perhaps Worthing have a wealthy benefactor and flying to the above games will be on the cards.

I think Worthing are already a full-time club, but it may be a mixture of professionals & semi professionals. Their manager is definitely full time.
It's incredible to me, but I think at least 9 clubs (possibly 11) in the South employ full time professional players (one is being relegated), while the North has more! | | | |
