I have a hard time seeing it myself. They are so boring to watch that I have a difficult time seeing them as truely "Great" team. However, they won a World cup and two European cups on the trot. That has never been done before for the simple reason that it is crazy hard to do.

The problem with Spain is they do utterly dominate games, which become boring to watch except as a technical demonstration.
Much of the excitement in football comes from unpredictability and close games where the lead or momentum switches throughout the 90 minutes, with lots of goals, penalties and red cards etc.
Spain just dominate the ball, scoring the odd goal or two and rarely giving their opponents the posession to cause them any problems. They only scored for than 2 goals agaisnt the Irish (arguably the worst team ever to qualify for the Euros) and Italy once they were down to 10 men and completely deflated.
For all the praise Spain have had, Italy should have won the first group game, and both Croatia and Portugal came very close to putting them out. |  | | |

At one point they won possession by their own corner flag and passed 6 or 7 times amongst the defence all one touch until they had the space and option to play the ball forward and start an attack. Rubbish |  |

Been fortunate to watch world football back to the sixties, without doubt one of the best teams ever, Brazil team of 1970, what a match that would be be if time travel was possible.
Really boring to watch players technical skilled to a high level, a' work rate' so beloved of the 'English ' fan and the ability to score goals across the team
Each to thier own when it comes to styles of football they like to watch, prefer watching players that have actually reached a high standard of technical ability and marvel at the aptitude when a game plan is stuck to and works so well.
